Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints. Psalms 116:15 Minister Vivian “Lou” Whitfield, 77, passed away peacefully at Select Specialty Hospital on May 6, 2024. Vivian was born on November 30, 1946 to the late Gladys Spruill and the late Sam Coffield in Williamston NC and raised by the late Oscar Whitley in Williamston NC. Vivian attended and graduated from E. J. Hayes High School in Williamston, NC. She later moved to Newark NJ where she was employed at Prudential Insurance Company. A few years later, she returned to Williamston NC and met the love of her life, Willie Mack Whitfield. They later married on January 1, 1970. Through this union three children were born, Willie, Roderick and Vincent. Vivian was multi-talented. She was a licensed Insurance agent, a cosmetologist, an educational paraprofessional, then she later worked for Penco Products in Hamilton, NC for many years before she retired. Vivian was a member of House of Prophecies and Prayer where she served as an usher and secretary. She was later ordained a minister and served under Prophet Dr. Sadie Lee Miles. Vivian was a sweet, kind, loving, and caring person, who loved the Lord. Her doors were always open to whomever was in need. She loved to sing, shop, travel and dine out. Every summer she would be seen gleaming with joy, waiting to take her annual trip to Paris, France with her Pastor, sister, and church family. She will be missed dearly. Vivian was preceded in death by her father, Sam Coffield and mother, Gladys Spruill; her brothers, Gerald (Jack) Spruill, Willie Coffield, Willevy Coffield; sisters, Gladys “Eloise” Riddick, Annie Coffield, and Claretha Coffield. Vivian leaves to cherish her loving husband of 54 years, Willie Mack Whitfield, Sr of Everetts NC; her sons, Willie Mack Whitfield, II (Stephanie) of Apex, NC, Roderick Whitfield (Jezel) of Middletown, CT, Edwin “Vincent” Whitfield (Charlotte) of Mahwah, NJ, Samuel “Neil” Lilley (Lynette) of Jamesville, NC; a loving sister and best friend, Cythnia Peele of Robersonville, NC; her grandsons, Byron Brown of Paterson, NJ, Devin Whitield of Mahwah, NJ, Victoria Whitfield of Apex, NC, Denim Whitfield of Lodi, NJ, and Tyler Allen of Middletown CT; and great grandchildren, Aniiyah Brown, Brielle Brown, and Harly Brown; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and special friends.
