Ms. Shirley Ruffin

Ms. Shirley Marie Delilah Ruffin was born in Pitt County on November 6, 1939. She was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, September 7, 2022. Mother Shirley received her formal education from C.M. Eppes High School and graduated in 1957. She further her education at Pitt Tech Community College (presently known as Pitt Community College) receiving several certificates. At an early age she joined Selvia Chapel FWB Church and later moved her membership. In 2001, shed became a member of Koinonia Christian Center Church under the leadership of her now partner and close friend, Bishop Rosie S. O’neal where she served as a Mother for many years. She has always had a servant’s heart and was committed to serving her community. She was an active member of the Ruff & Ready Volunteer Fireman Assoc for over two decades and volunteered at Meals on Wheels. A few careers that she held were Prep Shirt, Pitt Child Care Center, Home Cleaners, and as a care partner. Mother Shirley was preceded in death by her mother, Reatha Briley Daniels; her brother, William E. Daniels; her sisters, Iva Carter, Jessie Mae Pratt; her husband, Curtis Earl Ruffin; her son, Bruce Eric Daniels; her great-granddaughter, Maziyah Foust. Mother Shirley leaves to cherish her memories her daughters, Iris Ruffin Foust (Michael), Regina Ruffin Roger (Antonio), her stepson, Clifford Kennedy all of Greenville, NC; nine grandchildren, Shauntia Fogg (Jerry) of Washington, NC, Greeley Eric Peterson of Phoenix, AZ, Keosha Brown, Michael Foust, LaShanda Foust, LaVonda Foust, Jennifer Howel (Marquell), Jeanette Turner all of Greenville, NC, Jolisia Epps-Smith (Taneisha) of Charlotte, NC; thirteen great-grandchildren, Zy’Quarria Brown, Gyan Pratt, Nevaeh Cannon, JerQuan Fogg, Jacquez Turner, Malik Wilkes, Camron Greenwood, Aries Brown, Ph’Zion Foust-Jones, Ahmir Brown, Jordan Turner, Logan Turner and Ida Foust; one brother, Robert Jones (Joyce) of Greenville, NC; two sisters, Darah Barcous of Greenville, NC, Margie Jones (Winston) of Dudley, NC; one sister-in-law, Annie Ruffin of Grimesland, NC; eight grand furbabies; special circle of lifetime friends, Yvonne Jones-Atwell of Brooklyn, NY(her classmate), Ruby Taylor of Greenville, NC (her neighbor), Mildred Gardner of Wendell, NC (church), Margie Green (prayer partner), Mary White (travel partner); she was a part of KCC Golden Girls, JoAnn Standifer, Edna Russell, Deloris Johnson, and Bishop Rosie S. O’neal (her PARTNER, Pastor, friend, confidant, her heart); a host of other families and friends.
