Overseer Shirley T. Powell

Overseer Shirley T. Powell was born on October 17, 1946, to the late Charlie and Fannie Roberson in Martin County, NC. God saw the road was getting rough, the hill was hard to climb; He gently closed those loving eyes and whispered, “Peace Be Thine.” On Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at ECU Health God sent his guardian angel to usher her into eternal peace. Overseer Shirley T. Powell attended Martin County Schools and graduated from East End High School and continued her education at Martin Community College. Overseer Shirley T. Powell began her Christian walk at an early age. She attended Green Memorial Church and later joined St. Paul Disciple Church both of Williamston N.C. Her mother, Pastor Fannie Roberson became the Founder of Roberson Chapel Word Of Life Ministry in 1985. Overseer Shirley T. Powell served as the Assistant Pastor. In August of 1993, Pastor Fannie Roberson went home to be with the Lord. Overseer Pastor Shirley T. Powell was installed as the Pastor. In 2004, Love-N-Fellowship Ministries was established under the leadership of Bishop Claudie H. Wilkins, where she served as the Supervisor of the Women’s Department. Overseer Shirley T. Powell has a strong passion for “GOD” and “FAMILY”!!! She really enjoyed serving her family, cooking, traveling and making sure everyone is satisfied. She’s known for feeding the neighborhood and a great encourager but if she ever says “ Can I be real with you?” put your seatbelts on!!! She always kept it real in a loving way. Overseer Shirley T. Powell was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, William Kirby Powell and Eric Powell; two sisters, Sadie Brown and Ethel Williams; six brothers, Linvert Roberson, Rudolph Roberson, Tyrone Roberson, Octavis Roberson, Author Jr. Roberson, CB Roberson. Overseer Shirley T. Powell, married William J. Powell in 1970. Within the 52 years, six children were born. She leaves to cherish four daughters, Sharon Brown of Parmele, NC, Jacqueline Hollis (Alton) Robersonville, NC, Sheila Powell and Erica Powell of Winterville, NC; 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; she reared four grandchildren in the home, Ashanti Williams, Jy’Quarius Williams, Trinity Williams and Eli Hollis; she also reared two nephews Jonathan McCrary and Brandon Barnes, two god children, Jerry Baker (Ruth) and Christa Dawson (Horace); four brothers, Roosevelt Roberson, Clinton Roberson, McCoy Roberson (Doris), all of Parmele, NC, Hort Manning (Sonya) of Manhattan, NY; two sisters, Joyce McCrary, Glenda Barnes both of Parmele, NC; one daughter in law, Nika Powell; sisters in law, Sheila Roberson, Gloria Roberson, Janie Moore; brothers in law, Leonard Powell (Fannie), Elbert Powell (Isabelle), Alton Ray Powell(Linda); a special friend, Gladys Andrews; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. 2 Timothy 4: 7-8 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on the day and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.
