Mr. Samuel Louis Knight Jr.

They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles; and shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31 Mr. Samuel Louis Knight, Jr. begin his life March 7, 1972 in Martin County Samuel Louis Knight and Janie Peele Knight. He departed this life on September 14, 2022 at Martin General Hospital, Williamston, NC. Samuel, known to many as Sam, and the family name “Woot.” Sam was educated in Martin County Public Schools and Barber School in Norfolk, VA. He was a race car driver in Virginia and North Carolina, little league football coach, Norfolk, VA until his health declined. Sam was a mentor for many children, especially in football. He taught the children that giving them money without working for it is not an option, you have to work for it, if it’s no more than picking paper up in the yard. Football was his passion, and the Dallas Cowboys was his favorite team. He was team Dallas!! Sam was a member of Gethsemane Community Baptist Church, Norfolk, VA, under the leadership of Dr. Kirk T. Houston, Sr. There he was in the Ministry Education class. He was a faithful member until his health failed and he moved back to North Carolina. Sam believes in looking out for others and giving. Always humble and a giving heart even as a child until you cross him the wrong way. Sam was married to Rhonda Smith-Knight until unfortunate incidents lead to his divorce, but they remain close friends. Sam was preceded in death by his brother, Armetrious Duane Knight; his sister, Keshia Juanita Knight. Sam leaves to cherish his memories, his daughter, Samiya Knight of Chesapeake, VA; his son, Majestic Knight of Fort Sills, OK; his parents, Samuel Louis Knight and Janie Peele Knight; brother, Frederick Bernard Knight (Monica) of Winterville, NC; a very special brother, Phil Council of Raleigh, NC; a special nephew, Raheem Knight of Greenville, NC; aunts, Eunice and Deborah Knight of Williamston, NC, Doris Brooks of Virginia Beach, VA, Vera Dabbs of Baltimore, MD, Katie Manning of Raleigh, NC, Paulette Myrick of Gold Point, NC, Jeanette Spruill, Annie Spivey (Frances), Bertie Brown all of Williamston, NC; uncles, Leo Peele, Bishop Steve Peele, Dwight Peele all of Williamston, NC, Douglas Peele of Portsmouth, VA, James Whitfield (Karen), Hilton Peele (Cheryl) both of Philadelphia, PA, Clyde Brown, Jr of Windsor, NC; a host of other relatives and friends.
