Sadie P. Council the daughter of the late Baker and Octavia Council was born in Martin County on August 5th, 1912. God received her home on January 8th, 2014 at 4:50 am. Mama Sadie as she was affection ally called attended school in Martin County. She received her GED at the age of 65 from Pitt Community College. She was one who believed that hard work and determination worked together. She was excited to vote in 2008 for President of the United States. Her desire was to treat all people equally. She was united in holy Matrimony to Charlie Burt Brown in 1933. To this union they were blessed with three sons and one daughter. Mama Sadie was a seamstress who needed no patterns. She made clothing for family members and friends. Her fee, whatever you could give. Sometimes that meant receiving nothing but she continued to use her talent to help others. At an early age she accepted Christ and became a member of Jones Chapel Primitive Baptist Church. Mama Sadie was a devoted member and Mother of the church until her health prevented her from attending regularly. She was a giving person who loved the Lord and did all she could during her lifetime to instill that love in others. During Quarterly Meetings, she was seeked out for her carrot cakes and fried chicken. She enjoyed cooking for family and friends. Mama Sadie enjoyed her grandchildren. During the summer months, her grandchildren from New York would gather at her home to enjoy southern summers She will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband Charlie (CB) Brown; (4) brothers, Sonnie, Burney, Arthur, Arline; (6) sisters,Lillian, Lottie, Sudie, Libby, Leathia, Sally; Her sons, Dallis and Hildred; daughter, Marilyn and Great-great grandson, baby Daryl.
