Dr. Markus Tarik Mosley, a devoted son, scholar, and servant leader, was born on February 5, 1996, at Providence Hospital in Washington, DC, to Lisa Mosley Bryant and Theotric White, Sr. Markus peacefully entered eternal rest at The Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, on November 1, 2025. He spent his formative years in North Carolina, where his vibrant personality, humor, and compassion quickly distinguished him. Markus enjoyed a childhood filled with joy, love, and support, which provided a strong foundation for his future endeavors. A proud graduate of Garner Magnet High School in Garner, North Carolina, Markus excelled both academically and athletically, distinguishing himself in track & field and football. His achievements earned him an athletic scholarship in track & field to East Carolina University (ECU) in Greenville, North Carolina. A dedicated scholar, gifted athlete, and aspiring leader, Markus earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from ECU, his Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences from Barry University in Miami, Florida, and his Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) from the ECU School of Dental Medicine. At the time of his passing, Dr. Mosley was serving as a General Practice Resident at The Ohio State University College of Dentistry in Columbus, Ohio. During his years at ECU, Markus was deeply involved in campus life and leadership. He served as Chief of Staff for the Student Government Association, represented the College of Health and Human Performance, and contributed as a Service Leadership Assistant for Pirate P.A.L.S. and as a Peer Career Leader through Career Services. He was also an active member of ECU Ambassadors and Elite Pirates. His dedication and excellence earned him recognition on both the Dean’s and Chancellor’s Lists, as well as distinction as a Chancellor’s Student Leadership Academy Scholar. Markus will be remembered as the embodiment of perseverance, kindness, humility, gratitude, and selflessness. His bright spirit, infectious smile, and unwavering dedication left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. Grounded in faith, Markus dedicated his life to God and was baptized on February 2, 2014, by Dr. Jeffrey Robinson of Juniper Level Missionary Baptist Church in Raleigh, North Carolina. Markus leaves to cherish his memory, his parents, Lisa Mosley Bryant (Jemel) of Garner, NC and Theotric “Tony” White (Martina) of Silver Spring MD; his siblings: DeShawn Holley of Raleigh, NC; Staff Sergeant Christopher Green of Tacoma, WA; Theotric “Theo” White, Jr. and Travis White of Clinton, MD; McKenzie Bryant of Garner, NC and Whitley White of Clinton, MD. Markus is survived by his grandparents: Martha Whitfield Mosley of Windsor, NC; James and Darnell White of Edenton, NC, uncles: James White, Jr. of Raleigh, NC; Zavier Mosley (LaToya) of Zebulon, NC; Simeon Tyrone White of Edenton, NC; Bryant White of Edenton, NC; Deion Mosley (Quiera “KiKi”) of Windsor, NC. Markus, a product of a blended family, shared a special relationship with his bonus Dad Jemel Lamont Bryant and Bonus mom LaDawne L. White. Markus is also remembered by his favorite cousin, Kamaiya Shivers of Zebulon, NC and a host of loving cousins, relatives, and friends. Markus was preceded in death by his beloved grandfather James Mosley, Sr., and uncle James Mosley, Jr. both of Windsor, NC.
