Leroy Daniels, better known as “Lil Bro” (pronounced Lil Bruh), son of the late Janie Lee Baker and Leroy C. Daniels, was born on July 10, 1954 and departed this life to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 7, 2025. Leroy was a graduate of J. H. Rose High School, class of 1973. He was on the track team and played basketball every weekend. He was also a graduate of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University with a Bachelors in Industrial Technology, Class of 1977. Leroy was a devoted deacon in the church and a member of The Voices of Time Gospel Group. Leroy married his high school sweetheart, Yvonne Fleming on December 16, 1978. Their union was blessed with two sons, Antony and Torel Daniels. He supported his youngest son, Torel, by attending every single high school football game and boy scouts camping event. Torel stated that “the reason I attended N.C. A&T was because of my father!” Leroy was a quiet but motivated professional. He worked and funded his entire way through college and after graduation he landed a job at Singer Furniture Company in Chocowinity, NC. He worked there as a warehouse supervisor for 20 years. When Singer went out of business, Leroy found a career as a pharmaceutical inspector at DSM Pharmaceuticals. Whoever knew Leroy, knew that he was a man of few words. However, he did have hobbies that he enjoyed. In his younger years he loved to lift weights and play basketball. When he had kids, he shifted his hobbies to yard work and watching sports games, especially the Dallas Cowboys. He enjoyed taking his youngest son to ECU football games on Saturdays. When he got older his hobby was being glued to his wife's hip. Everything she did, he did. Von wanted to work in the garden, Leroy wanted to work in the garden. Von wanted to walk at the park, Leroy wanted to walk at the park. Von wanted to use the bathroom…For better or for worse, they were two peas in a pod, spending their retired years on the back patio watching T.V, enjoying the weather and each other's company. Leroy also loved spending time with his immediate and extended family. He would usually sit in his chair and laugh at any and everything they joked about. Leroy also loved his granddaughter, Seven. One of the last smiles he cracked was when Seven came into the hospital room and said, “I love you grandpa!” After Leroy’s' wife passed away, it hurt him deeply. Now he can spend time with her in heaven on the back patio. In addition to his parents, Mrs. Janie Lee Baker and Mr. Leroy C. Daniels, Leroy was preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne Daniels; two brothers, Carlton Daniels and Randy Daniels and one sister, Gloria Mayo. Leroy leaves to cherish his loving memories, his two sons, Antony Daniels (Nora) of Winterville, NC and Torel Daniels (Ebony) of Clayton, NC; one granddaughter, Seven Zionmarie Daniels; three sisters, Dezzie Daniels, of Greenville, NC, Merita Richardson (Gary) of Charlotte, NC, and Martha Harrington of Harrisburg, PA; three brothers, Malcolm Daniels (Annette), Jerome Daniels both of Greenville, NC and Curtis Harrington of Harrisburg, PA; two sisters-in-law, Susette Sheppard and Wanda Smith, both of Greenville, NC; three brothers-in-law, Ernest Fleming Jr. (Deborah) of Kinston, NC, Pastor Canaan Fleming (Darlene) of Winterville, NC, and Rondy Fleming (Lora) of Winterville, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
