Mrs. Laura Stanback

Laura Eula Brown Stanback was born on March 23, 1938 in Williamston, NC to the late William C. Brown and the late Laura W. Brown. She was the sixth child of eleven children. Laura was given the nickname “Sister” and she loved to be called “Aunt Laura”. On Thursday July 9, 2015, she departed this life at Gilchrist Howard County Hospice of Columbia, Maryland. God blessed us to have her for seventy- seven years. “With long life will I Satisfy Him, and show Him my salvation.” Psalms 91:16 “Sister” was a graduate of E. J. Hayes High School in Williamston, NC. She attended and graduated from North Carolina Central University of Durham, NC with a Bachelor degree in Business Administration. “Sister” later attended Coppin State College of Baltimore, Maryland where she received her degree in Elementary Education. She taught in the Baltimore City School System for thirty-three years. “Sister” met and married Earl Junior Stanback while living in Baltimore. To this union one child was born, Deverrick Torrance Stanback, who she often referred to as her ‘’pride and joy” and her “little man”. “Sister” attended First United Baptist Church in Baltimore, MD under the leadership of Bishop Monroe R. Sanders. There she received Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She later joined The Manifestation of Holiness Church of Baltimore, MD under the leadership of Apostle G. Katrina Outlaw, her niece. She was a devoted and active member until her health began to decline. “Sister” was admitted to St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, MD on June 9, 2015 where she was diagnosed with cancer. During our last conversation together she stated, “Pat, God has been good to me and I am pleased with my life. I know Jesus as my Lord and Savior and nothing else matters. Laura Eula Brown Stanback was a beloved mother, sister, and friend; she leaves to cherish her memories, her son, Deverrick T. Stanback of Baltimore, MD; one brother, James Edwin Brown, Sr. of Williamston, NC; two sisters, Sylvia Brown Combs, Patricia Brown Cox both of Williamston, NC; one sister-in-law, Co- Pastor Patricia Little Brown of Williamston, NC; one brother-in-law, James Earl Cox of Greenville, NC; a devoted niece, Aretha Gonzalez of Williamston, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. To Our Sister we say: “The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace”.
