"I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7 Kevin Cornell Staton, who was born on September 19, 1964, in Pitt County, North Carolina, to the late Thelvin Worsley and Minnie Pearl Staton. He peacefully departed this earthly life on Thursday, July 23, 2026. Kevin attended Tarboro High School and graduated with the Class of 1983. He later continued his education at Elizabeth City State University. Prior to his career in law enforcement, Kevin worked at Pitt Memorial Hospital as a Hemodialysis Technician, then at Greenville Dialysis, and later served as a manager at Johnston County Dialysis Center, Inc. in Smithfield, NC. Before his health began to decline, Kevin faithfully served his community as a police officer with the ECU Health Police Department and as a Realtor with Wilkins Realty Group in Greenville, North Carolina. Today, we honor a man who wore his badge with integrity, served his community with courage, and protected others with compassion. His commitment to justice, unwavering strength, and the love he shared with his family, friends, and community will never be forgotten. Though his watch on earth has ended, his legacy of service and sacrifice will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Kevin was preceded in death by his father, Thelvin Worsley; his mother, Minnie Pearl Staton; the parents who raised him, William and Julia Worsley; and two uncles, Timothy Worsley and Donald Ray Staton; maternal grandmother, Maggie Thompson. Kevin leaves to cherish his precious memories his five children: Kevin Staton II of Tampa, FL, Brian Staton of Greenville, NC, Joshua Staton, Grace Staton, and Trinity Staton, all of Rocky Mount, NC; two brothers, Lachauncey Staton (TaWanda) of Greenville, NC, and Reginald Staton (Danielle) of Philadelphia, PA; six aunts, Dorothy Johnson of Atlanta, GA, Annie Clinton (Dennis) of Greenville, NC, Olivet Modlin of Tarboro, NC, Ella Young (Curtis) of Rocky Mount, NC, Sharon Macon of Greensboro, NC, and Sabrina McKenzie of Tarboro, NC; one uncle, Robert Worsley of Tarboro, NC; a special devoted friend, Darla Debois, who remained by his side through life's joys and challenges, sharing a bond of friendship, love, and companionship that will forever be treasured; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family. Kevin's life was a testament to dedication, service, and resilience. His memory will continue to inspire those who were blessed to know him, and he will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.
