Matthew 25:21 On Sunday afternoon, July, 13, 2014 an angel eased into Martin General Hospital and took the hand of our loved one, Gloria B. Davis. The Angel peacefully and quietly took the extended hand and began the journey to eternal rest. She was born to the late Joe Small and the late Alta B. Mannings on April 22, 1943 in Williamston, NC. Gloria attended E.J. Hayes School in Williamston, NC and graduated in 1961, going on to further her education at Martin Community College in Williamston, NC, she graduated with an Associate Degree in Applied Sciences in Cosmetology. Gloria attended Elizabeth City State University in Elizabeth City, NC. On February 9, 1985 she was joined in holy matrimony to Clifton Earl Davis, Jr. Gloria is remembered as a community champion as she proudly served and advocated for local, state and national legislation officials. She served on Martin Community Action Board and at the time of her passing was an active Town Commissioner for the town of Williamston. Gloria was passionately involved with the Martin County Democratic Campaign Headquarters. Her employment consisted of 14 years of service at Martin County Department of Social Services and 13 years at North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles, where she later retired in 2011. Gloria will forever be remembered for her loving smile, devotion to her family and community, compassion to helping others, and her generosity and faithfulness to everyone she encountered. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. One brother, Donald Small preceded her in death. Gloria is survived and leaves to cherish her memories to her devoted husband, Clifton Earl Davis, Jr. and her loving daughter, Myra C. Brown both of the home; granddaughter, Brittany B. Turner (Demetrius) of Williamston, NC; grandsons, Brandon M. Brown and Vy’Shonn M. Lawrence of the home; two great-grandchildren, Landon J. Brown and King M. Peele both of Williamston, NC; three brothers, Kermit J. Brown of Williamston, NC, Raynard Small, Leon Small both of Greensboro, NC; one sister, Josephine Cherry of Windsor, NC; one god-son, Travis Wallace (Formika) of Merry Hill, NC; two god-daughters, Monica Breeden (Darryl) of Georgia, Bridgette Emannuel of Florida; mother-in-law Helena Davis of Kinston, NC; brother-in-law, Reginald Davis of Kinston, NC; two special cousins, Canzetta Hamilton of NY, Millie Lloyd of Williamston, NC; five special friends, Helen Bennett of Connecticut, Marnzella Wilson of NY, Zellene Laney of Williamston, NC, Dena Rhodes-Frazier of Williamston, NC, Ruth Mobley Spruill (Mike) of Williamston, NC; a very special, loving niece and caregiver Nia Woolard (Travis) of Williamston, NC, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
