Edrick Lowe Chance, a resident of Martin County, passed away Monday, July 11, 2022. He was born on July 22, 1975 in Pitt County to Freddie Lowe Chance and the late Martha Porter Chance. Edrick graduated from Roanoke High School in Robersonville, North Carolina. Afterwards, he attended Elizabeth City State University in Elizabeth City, North Carolina and received his Bachelor of Science Degree. Edrick loved his alma mater! He supported it financially and attended his Vikings homecomings. He loved tailgating at the popular Down East Viking Football Classic, enjoying his music and food. Edrick worked at Thermo Fisher Scientific in Greenville, North Carolina as a Senior Formulation Technician. On June 22, 2022, he was recognized for 2O years of dedicated service. It did not include the five years he worked with Thermo Fisher Scientific as a temporary employer. He had a strong work ethic and rarely missed a day from work unless on vacation or sick. Many years he would go to dialysis after work and return to work the next day. He often volunteered to work for co-workers on holidays to allow them to enjoy the holidays with their families. A savvy and driven entrepreneur, Edrick owned and operated Ed Chance Auto Sales. You would always see him driving his black, “clean as a whistle,” Cadillac suv and his two Chevy Silverado's. He took great pride in keeping his vehicles in excellent condition and shining. Edrick dearly loved and cherished his mother. Prior to her death, he, his Dad, and older brother Tony became her personal care providers when she became incapacitated. He fed her, bathed her, and even tried to braid her hair. A faithful and devoted son, he made sure his mother had the best possible medical care at home. He loved and adored the rest of his family. Edrick took great joy in seeing his nieces and nephews do well in life. He often took them shopping and made sure they had what they needed. He was present at their graduations and other special events. They always knew they could depend on him and will deeply miss him. Edrick loved and lived life! He enjoyed having huge cookouts, inviting his family and friends over, and playing his music. He cooked out for most holidays. He would get up early to make sure everything was prepared before everyone arrived. He didn’t want anyone to bring anything. His specialty was grilled chicken wings and ribs. Upon their arrival, they could eat, while he enjoyed socializing. This was his party! He also was an enthusiastic, to say the least, sports fanatic! His favorite teams were the Washington Redskins, Carolina Tarheels, and the Los Angeles Lakers. When his teams played, they could count on him to dress out in his favorite team apparel. Edrick leaves a life of love to his devoted dad, Frederick Lowe Chance of Bethel, NC, his dedicated and caring brother, Tony Chance (fiance’ Hilda) of Greenville, NC, and his loving sister, Krystal Hines of Winterville, NC; one nephew, Tony Jr. (wife Abigail,) two nieces, Carmen (fiance’ Kendrell) and Lauren; one great niece, Bri; four aunts; Patricia C. Neal (Frank) Sallie C. Jones (Howard) of Bethel, NC, Bernice Garnett (Carl) and Joyce C. Jones (Robert) of Greenville, NC; four uncles, James E Chance (Rose) of Greensboro, NC, Melvin Chance (Ernestine) of Tarboro, NC, Robert Porter(Letha) of New Haven, Conn. and Arthaniel Porter of Robersonville, NC; one great aunt, Lula Stancil of Robersonville, NC; a Godfather, Albert Sherman of Bethel, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
