Edna Mae Sallie Smith, aka “Baby Sis” was born September 18, 1945 to the late Josepha and the late Ella Mae Washington Sallie in Wadesboro, NC. She departed this life on September 15, 2017. Edna at the age of four years old moved to New Jersey with her family. After a few years their they relocated to Winston Salem, NC. She started school there and continued living in Winston Salem, until she decided to return back to New Jersey. She finished her schooling and worked hard at being a CNA, in which she helped others. “Baby Sis” also did seasonal work for R. J. Reynolds. Edna leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Kenneth Smith; one son, Omar Sallie (Palmer); three daughters, Teresa Cox (David), Melinda Sallie, Shareefha Sallie; two sisters, Josephine Sherrod (Napoleon), Ella Jean Sallie; one brother, Edward Sallie; one aunt, Patricia Mitchell; one uncle, Leotis Washington; nine grandchildren, Braheem Sallie, Darnell Downes, Taliyah Sallies, Almmane Sallie, David, Brahein, Betina, Third Son, Shelaine Cox; special sister-in-law, Felicia Sallie; adopted-daughter, Gloria Slaughter; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
