Mr. Barry Willoughby

Barry Joseph Willoughby was born July 15, 1955 in Miami Florida to the late Mattie Lou Willoughby and Ernest Willoughby, Sr. On July 3, 2021 Barry Willoughby transitioned from this earth to his final rest in glory. Barry received his primary education from Sheepshead Bay High School in Brooklyn, New York graduating in 1973 with honors and then joined the United States Army for twenty-eight years. He worked for Perdue in Lewiston Woodville for thirty-six years before he retired in March 2019 and he was loved by the entire plant. “Boy I tell ya!” Every dispatcher at Perdue knew Mr. Barry as they called him was frustrated and was a pleasure to work with. Barry was a wonderful man of God, leaving an indelible mark on those he met wherever he went. He would always leave paths he crossed with three things Faith, Family, and Finances, he firmly believed that if you kept these in order, you would make it. Barry was married to Bridget Willoughby nine years and together nineteen. He was a great husband, father, and grandfather, assuring his wife that “if you stick with me, I will take care of you” and he did just that! Barry was preceded in death by his parents, Mattie Lou Willoughby & Ernest Willoughby, Sr; brother, Curtis Marvin Willoughby; brother-in-law, Booker T. Blakeney, Robert “Kenny” Finch. Barry leaves to cherish many wonderful memories his wife Bridget, four daughters, Ebonie Brown of Durham, NC, Sheneka Willoughby of Greenville, NC, TaCriasha Davis (Jeremiah) of Raleigh, NC, Jamiceia Willoughby of Raleigh, NC; one son, Javeon Lyles-Askew of Ahoskie NC; seven grandchildren, Lamar Brown, Shamar Willoughby, Treveon Knight, Zyaja Knight, Freddereka Knight, Omauri Adams, Christina Cherry; three brothers, Ernest Willoughby (Cassandra) of Norfolk, Virginia, Michael Willoughby of Brooklyn, New York, Steven Willoughby (Janice) of Baltimore, Maryland, Anthony Finch of Charlotte, NC, Robert Little of Windsor, NC; one sister, Curtina Willoughby of Norfolk, Virginia, Patricia “Pat” Brown (Jimmy) of Williamston, NC, Callie Herring (Michael) of Rocky Mount, NC, Anita Finch (Johnny) of Williamston, NC, Babbie Mills (James) Williamston, NC; two aunts, Pat Turner of Fredericksburg, VA, Barbara Terry of Delaware; one uncle, Leo Wilson “Uncle Buck” of Huntsville, Alabama; two sisters-n-law, Ronda Sutton (Larry) of Pageland, South Carolina, Ernestine Lyles (Tobias) of Ahoskie, NC; two brothers-in-law, Bryon Blakeney (Lisa) of Hinesville, GA, Booker T. Blakeney (Wakia) of Bronx, New York; two best friends, Barren Riddick (whom Barry gave the nickname “Bin Laden”) and George Mills; special cousin, Anthony “Moony” Sally; eight nieces, Delores Lyles, Antionette Lyles, Brandis Blakeney, Brooke Blakeney, Brittany Blakeney, Justine Willoughby, Della Willoughby, Taren Jones; seven nephews, Shamel Willoughby, Quintarious Smallwood, Stephon Willoughby, Benjamin Willoughby, Adriel Willoughby, Andre Lyles, Bryon Lyles, four great nieces, Ja-Kariah Davis, Janasiah Lyles-Askew, Jakayla Lyles-Askew, Christiana; four great nephews, Cameron, Christian, Christopher, Calani; a mega-host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
