Audrey Faith Carney Maye was born to the late Fannie Mae and Harvert Carney, Sr. April 16, 1960 in Pitt County. Upon the death of her mother, Audrey was raised by her sister, Theresa and her husband, Buddy Jackson. God called her to eternal rest on November 10, 2021 at Vidant Medical Center, Greenville, NC. Audrey accepted Christ in 1981 at Mayo Chapel Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Walter Cherry, Jr. She served as a member of Mayo Chapel MB Church usher board, deaconess board and WC Ushers, until her health failed. Audrey met the love of her life, Jay Maye forty years ago, and to this union they formed a blended family of six children.Audrey attended North Edgecombe High School and graduated in 1978. She was employed at Vidant Medical Center for 18 years with perfect attendance, until her health failed. She had a passion for others, she loved reading and studying her bible, encouraging whoever she came in contact with and building her Christmas Village. She was a woman of few words, always had a smile, never complained, and always had a concern for others. Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, Havert and Fannie Mae Carney; three sisters, Lois Marie Council, Patricia Person, Ernell Maye; three brothers, Donnell Council, Havert Carney, Jr and Jimmy Crandall; brother-in-law, Buddy Jackson. Audrey leaves to cherish her memories, her loving husband, Jay Maye of the home; their children, Natresha Carney of Greenville, NC, Lakevis Carney (Shauvon) of Rolesville, NC, Donnell Maye of Nashville, NC, Francellia Bandy of Jonesboro, GA, Andre Godbolt and Jason Godbolt both of Florence, SC; seven sisters, Mae Joyce Evans (Daniel), Iris Celestine (Anthony), Theresa Neal (Willie), Sandra Council Jackson, Glenda Jackson (Eddie), Darla McLaurin and Wynema Carney all of Greenville, NC; one brother, Carlton Council of Greenville, NC; two brothers-in-law, Willie May of Greenville, Leanza Moore of Farmville, NC; three sisters-in-law, Barbara Johnson of Greenville, NC, Angela May of New Haven, CT and Carolyn May of Rocky Mount, NC; one aunt, Marie Council of Philadelphia; fifteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, Mykari Coburn & Dami’on Mayo; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
