(Matt 6:6-13) Obituary On June 6, 2024, the sun set on this angel Annie Virginia Ross Bunns when the LORD called her home. His LORD said unto him, “Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things; enter thou into the joy of the LORD. (Matt 25:23 KJV) Annie was born on May 4, 1944 in Tarboro, NC to Ervin and Ellen Cherry Ross. She was one of eleven daughters and six sons. Annie graduated from Bethel Union High School in Bethel, NC in 1963. She also completed her certification in Office Administration in 1982. At an early age Annie joined Wynn’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, in Bethel, NC. In 1963, Annie moved to Danbury, Connecticut to begin her new journey. In 1965, she married Sterling Bunns. To this union two children were born. Annie later joined New Hope Baptist Church in Danbury, CT under the Leadership of the late Rev. Aaron Samuels. She had a classic style and loved wearing her hats to church. As a young woman Annie had dreams of becoming a model. She was stunning and a true Fashionista. She loved to sew clothing for herself and others. When it came to cooking, she put her foot in it..! Back home in Connecticut she was fondly known as the “Chicken Lady”. When friends or loved ones passed away she would quickly send a pan of her famous fried chicken to the family’s house as a show of love and support. Her greatest passion was fishing even when she didn’t catch anything. She just loved watching the bobber go underwater. She also enjoyed her crossword puzzles, word search and coloring books. She was employed as an Assembler at Amphenol RF, Inc., in Danbury, CT for more than 25 years before retiring. In 1998, she began working for the Eaton Corporation in Bethel, CT as a Quality Control Technician until she moved back to North Carolina in 2001. Annie was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers James, Marvin (Jimmy), Will and Smiley along with two sisters, Mary and Edna Mae. Annie leaves to cherish her memory, a loving and devoted husband, Sterling, a daughter Rena Bunns of Greenville, NC; a son Reginald Bunns (April) of Greenville, NC; two brothers: John Ross (Naide) of Danbury, CT and Donnie Ray Ross (Rochelle) of Winterville, NC; eight sisters: Dora Daniels of Pikesville, MD, Martha Spinner (Charles) of Danbury, CT, Madgelene Howell (Robert) of Charlotte, NC, Ruby Jackson (Elvin) of Parksville, MD, Ethel Brown of New Haven, CT, Donna Kay Rogers (David) of Clarksville, TN, Betty Wooten (Bobby) of Durham, NC, Linda Glover (Rodney) of Winterville, NC; grandchildren: William, Paulena, Andrea, Iesha, J’Onna, Aniyah; great-grandchildren: Aria, Arious, Jr.(Deuce, on the way), Aleah, Zhyan and Malani; one brother-in-law: Zachary Bunns; two sister-in-laws: Carolyn Purvis and Yvonne Purvis, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
