Anas (Ander, Sr.) Marshall Parmalee who was actually born Ander Marshall Parmalee on February 3, 1944, in Pitt County, NC to the late Martha Parmalee. Anas was affectionately known by many as “Puddin” or “Duke.” Anas transitioned in his hometown at the age of 81. Anas was educated in the Pitt County School system and later relocated to New Jersey where he went to James J. Ferris High School. By the age of 26 he became a professional boxer. For as long as anyone could remember, Anas was an OTR truck driver traveling anywhere from the East to the Midwest. While residing in New Jersey, he served as the chauffer of “The Dynamic Rugged Cross Singers of Jersey City.” and later became a singing member of the group. During this time, he met his current wife, Eveline Parmalee. He later retired and moved back to his hometown. As life has many twists and turns, Anas was not a stranger to the mean streets. He later found solace and this upcoming September; he would have been free of substance abuse for 30 years. He took much pride in attending meetings regularly and giving back to those in need. Anas was well known for his suits, sharpness and adored by many. He was a resilient soul who found hope and happiness through recovery. He touched many lives with his unwavering spirit and commitment to living a sober life. Anas will be remembered for being charismatic, lively and keen. His spark will forever continue to shine and never dim. On May 29, 2025 his battle with cancer unfortunately concluded. Anas was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Parmalee; one son, Ander Marshall Parmalee Jr; one daughter, Wanda Posey; three brothers, Louis Parmalee, Elliot Parmalee, and Linza Parmalee. Anas leaves to cherish his wonderful memories, his loving wife, Eveline Parmalee; seven children, Tanya Jones (Daryl), Kelvin Parmalee (Theresa), Bernard Parmalee (Angel), Eric Rice (Patricia), Levonne Reed (Richard), Anthony Royster, Adriene Royster; two bonus daughters, Tomar Royster, Felicia Bunn; twenty-four grandchildren, Kyle, Charkel, Kelvin Jr., Katherine, Cyrus, Nakia, Tré, Torian, Arielle, Erika, Erin, Eric Jr., Jordan, Rayana, Antonio, LaDarious, Malik, Richard Jr., Angelique, Anton, Amani, Cornelius, Jaheem, Jaylen and bonus grandson, Charles Smith; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, David Parmalee; special cousin, Jacqueline George; longtime friends, Joe, Phil and Dadio; a host of sisters & brothers-in-law, other relatives and friends.
