Pastor Amos Wilson Sr.

Pastor Amos quietly departed this life and entered eternal rest on June 5th, 2023 at ECU Health Hospital in Greenville, NC. Amos was born in Eufaula, Ala (Barbour County) to the late Frankie Eugene and Katie Bell Wilson; one of ten siblings. Preceded him in death-his parents, Frankie and Katie Wilson; brother, Joe Frank Wilson; sister, Joanne Gray. He leaves to mourn his loving wife, Elder Doris Wilson; sons, Amos Jr. (Dawn), Everett (Shaunette), Titus (Tonya), Bishop Jacob (Chanelle), Daniel (Whitney), C.J. (Coral), Sgt. Jonathan. Daughters: Esther (Willie) and Raquel (Nick). Z’Queenya Adams. Adopted sons: Derrick Meyers and Donta Brewington; Goddaughters, Muffin Whitney, Shiann Stokes, Jasmine Stokes, Harriece Gowers, and Nakevia Phillips. Godsons: Tyrone Pope, Sr. and Nolan McCullor; grandchildren, Shiann (Trey) Johnson, Famous, Ethan, Bralan, Michael, Jaiden, Isaiah, Zakkai, Zion, Tasha, Taliah, Lydia, Kayla, Josiah, Jeremiah, Daniel, Gabriel, Esriel, Aylah, Maya, Willow, Elena, Emery, Na’Rhea, and Naomi; grandson-nephew, Sgt. Suggs; siblings, Pastor Clifford Wilson (Angie), Evangelist Janice Jones, Rosa Nell Rivers, Deborah Hunter, Elaine Snype (Norman), Reverend James Earl Wilson, and Pamela Wilson; brothers -in -law, Bishop Melvin Phillips (Delores) and Reverend James Phillips (Mary); sisters-in-law, Mary Harper, Carolyn Reeves, Hilda Phillips, and Margie Young (Jeffrey); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives. The members of Mt. Olive Pentecostal Faith Church, Saints of The Pentecostal Faith Church, Inc., his dear friends, Associate Pastor Harry Gowers and Bishop Clinton Tetterton. Pastor Amos Wilson migrated to New York City with his family in 1965. In 1966, he gave his life to Christ at the tender age of 14. Shortly thereafter in 1968, he received the baptism of the Holy Ghost at The Pentecostal Faith Church Holy Convocation. The Lord equipped Pastor Amos with many gifts that would aide in the ministry. He learned how to play the piano and organ under the instruction of Elder Brewington. He enjoyed listening to the preached word of God from Mother Smith. As a result, Pastor Amos developed a deep desire to teach the gospel to the world. In 1971, he graduated from Franklin K. Lane High School in Brooklyn and became a part of the household of faith ministries within The Pentecostal Faith Church. He served as a chauffeur for the late founders and leaders. He also served as a youth camp counselor at Bethel Sunshine Camp in the Catskill Mountains of New York. He was ordained a Head Deacon and served faithfully under the leadership of Mother Bertha Henderson. Pastor Amos Wilson, Sr. held many jobs, but he worked at Hackney & Sons and United Insurance Company for many years before retiring. In, 2000 he became the Pastor of Mt. Olive PFC in Belhaven, NC. Throughout the course of his ministry, he led the reconstruction efforts of the church after it was burned down in a fire, he taught the word of God at various prisons within the community, he took chaplaincy course work through the chaplain program through Vidant Medical Center in Washington, NC, he also completed coursework in biblical studies, and he served as a councilman in Belhaven, NC in 2015. Pastor Amos Wilson, Sr. was a dedicated servant of God who was faithful until the very end. Job well done, good and faithful servant.
