Please keep the Purvis family in your prayers. Willie Purvis, Jr took his final walk on this earthly realm on March 16, 2022. Born to the late Willie Purvis and Bernice Blount Purvis in Greenville, NC. He attended Pitt County Schools and graduated from North Pitt High School in 1974. Willie joined the United States Army shortly after graduating. Willie was humble, gentle, kindhearted, and soft spoken. He found joy in helping other throughout the community repair lawnmowers and other small motors. Willie Purvis, Jr was preceded in death by his father, Willie Purvis; mother Bernice Blount Purvis; sisters, Ella Mae Smith, Linda Purvis, and Diana Purvis Moore. Willie Purvis, Jr leaves to cherish (1) son, Willie Barrett; (6) sisters, Bessie Lee Hopkins, Brenda Cogdell, Lossie Evans (Lindsey), Cherry Atkinson (Anthony), Peggy Purvis, Connie Parker (Sam); (1) brother, James Atkinson (Mamie); 4 grandchildren, Kire Braxton, Raekwon Stancil, and Nehemiah Green, Amiyah Davis; (1) great grandchild, Kire Braxton, Jr. all of NC; (3) aunts, Mrs. Martha Moore of FL, Mrs. Reldephia Burnett and Mrs. Bertha Evans both of NC; (1) uncle, Mr. Jimmie Blount of NC; 8 nieces, 15 nephews; special friend: Linda Barrett; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In lieu of a tradition service, the family has elected to celebrate the life of Mr. Willie Purvis, Jr. with a balloon release. Further details regarding the balloon release are forthcoming.
