William Nicholas Cherry transitioned peacefully in the midday hours at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville North Carolina. William Nicholas Cherry was born on February 28, 1978 at Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville, NC to Bonnie and Irene Cherry of Bethel, North Carolina. William Nicholas Cherry attended North Pitt High School, where he was known to all as “Doodie or Doo Dah.” William was loved by everyone that he met and will be remembered for his large smile and infectious laugh. He always kept you laughing with jokes that would certainly brighten up your day. He was a joy to be around and loved a good meal. William also had a love for fishing, he was a master at the sport. To know William is to love him. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, relative and friend who had a humble and giving spirit. William Nicholas Cherry leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Melinda Diane Cherry, of the home; one daughter, Jaslynn Cherry of Plymouth, NC; his parents Bonnie and Irene Cherry of Bethel, NC; his mother-in-law, Josephine Williams of Greenville, NC; two brothers, Michael Staton (Trina) of Philadelphia, PA, Omar Cherry of Bethel, NC; one nephew, Michael Jr. of Philadelphia, PA: his step- children, Kimberly Nelson of the home, Brittney Gainer, Marquavis Paige, Jaquan Nelson, and Tyrce Nelson all of Greenville, NC; one sister-in-law, Danyell Paige of Bethel, NC; four brothers-in-law, Michael Williams and Ernest Paige of Greenville, NC, Ernest Williams (Latonya) Bethel, NC, Kelly Williams (Connie) of Greenville, NC; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
