Ms. Sheila Askew

Sheila Askew was born on April 13, 1965, to the late Glenda Askew and the late Melvin Wiggins of Robersonville, North Carolina. She transitioned from this natural life on February 15, 2022, at Calvary Hospital, Brooklyn, New York. Sheila graduated from the Martin Luther King High School in Manhattan, New York. She was employed for eighteen years as a School Safety Officer with the New York Police Department. Sheila enjoyed handball, listening to music, reading, eating with friends, and crossword puzzles. Sheila was preceded in death by her father, Melvin Wiggins; mother, Glenda Askew; brother, Jeffery Wiggins; grandmother, Novella Askew; uncle, Norman “Ben” Askew; aunts, Judy and Ruby Askew. Sheila is survived and will be missed greatly by her daughter, Brianna Askew of Brooklyn, NY; sisters, Deborah Askew of Waterbury, CT and Cora Andrews of Danbury, CT; brother, Melvin Wiggins, Jr. of Williamston, NC; one great aunt, Mary Durham of Williamston, NC; three uncles, Milton (Mary) Wiggins, Thomas, “Boy” Wiggins (Glenda), and Larry Wiggins, all of Robersonville, NC; three aunts, Edna Newell and Diane Barnhill both of Robersonville, NC and Ernestine Wiggins of Brooklyn, NY; a devoted and special friend, Lisa Crooms; her daughter’s godmother, Patrice Ratliff; a host nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
