Mrs. Sadie Mae Price Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Mrs. Sadie Mae Black Price was born February 29, 1924, in Martin County to the late David and Penny Black. She passed away on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, peacefully at her home. Sadie was educated in the Martin County School System. Later in life, she worked in agriculture, which included Tobacco, and the Williamston Peanut Company. Sadie also worked in Housekeeping at the Holiday Inn Hotel until retiring. After retiring, Mrs. Sadie began at home care for some of her siblings and family relatives until their death. She worked tirelessly and effortlessly to ensure that her family needs were met. You never heard her complain because she took pride in caring for others. All of her family would say “I don’t know what we would have done if it wasn’t for Aunt Sadie”. Early in life, Sadie joined Mount Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and remained a faithful member until her health began to fail. Mrs. Sadie was the oldest member of Mount Shiloh. She loved her church and no matter the occasion, she rose to it. She served in the Missionary Department, attending Monday mission meetings faithfully, singing in the Mount Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church Sanctuary and Traveling choir, the Women’s Department, Sunday School, Bible Class, Vacation Bible School and wherever she felt her services were needed. Sadie had various hobbies that she loved and they became noticeable when others saw her. She enjoyed walking, gardening, canning, cleaning, doing her hair, helping her grandkids with their homework, shopping, and spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed cooking for her family, and if nobody else cooked, Sadie had a pot on the stove. Her cornbread, Flour bread, and blueberry dumplings were the best. Her saying was “They got to eat; I don’t like to see nobody hungry”. Sadie was preceded in death by fifteen siblings; two best friends, Louvenia Stokes and Patty Ray Ewell. Cherishing her life and legacy, Sadie leaves her devoted daughter, Myra Perkins (Earl) devoted son-in-law of the home in Williamston, NC; one devoted grandson, Dijon Perkins of Greenville, NC; two devoted granddaughters, Jezmone Perkins and Angele Perkins both of Williamston, NC; three great grandchildren, Timonie Andrews, Ayden Perkins & Azani Perkins; a host of devoted nieces, nephews and friends.
