I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7 Mary Jean Hayes was born in Pitt County, N.C. on May 2, 1931. She was the daughter of the late Jasper Boyd and the late Georgeana Daniels Boyd. She departed this life on Monday, April 5, 2021. Mary was educated in Martin County school systems. She was a farm laborer. She was a member of Roberson Baptist Church, where she was a faithful and devoted member until her health failed. Mary was married to the Pria Lee Hayes. Mary was preceded in death by her late husband, Pria Lee Hayes; four sisters, Ethel Lynch, Inez Hyman, Peggy Scott and Lois Boyd; one brother, Jasper Boyd, Jr. Mary leaves to cherish her memories a very special friend, James Mobley; a very special and devoted niece, Peggy Allen of Bethel, N.C.; a special and devoted nephew, Jesse R. Lynch of Robersonville; N.C.; two step-daughters, Dorothy Taft (Sammy) of Stokes, N.C. and Perry Hayes of Sugar Lane, TX; one stepson, Wayne Hayes of Greenville, N.C.; one special grandson whom she raised Stacy Hayes of Virginia; one brother Willie Boyd of Brooklyn, NY; one sister-in-law, Tillie Boyd of Greenville, N.C.; a host of nieces, nephews, step grandchildren, step great-grandchildren, other family members and friends.
