“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” St. John 3:16 Obituary Marvin Earl Carr, aka “Smooth” was born on July 28, 1953 to the late Marvin Carr, Sr. and Novella Richardson Carr. He entered eternal rest on September 24, 2019 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC. Marvin attended the Pitt County Schools and graduated from J. H. Rose High School in Greenville, NC. He went on to further his education and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree at North Carolina Central University in Durham, NC. Marvin did his student teacher at J. H. Rose High School. Marvin worked at ECU in the cafeteria and then went on to work at Rubbermaid for many years. He worked at Fullarton Computer Industries until they relocated. Marvin loved his neighborhood, Greenfield Terrace. He was a loving and caring person. Marvin will be greatly missed. Marvin is preceded in death by his father; brother, Julius Carr; sisters, Margaret Johnson, Virginia Tatum; nephew, Joseph Johnson. Marvin leaves to cherish his memories, his loving and caring mother, Novella Richardson Carr; three step-children, Drizonda Smith (Donell) of Greenville, NC, Erica Highsmith (Douglas) of Lynchburg, VA, Jerry Brown (Tressa) of Greenville, NC; three sisters, Patricia Savage (Edgar) of Charlotte, NC, Cathy Carr of Germany, Doris Brown of Charlotte, NC; three nieces he helped reared as he own, Bianca Tatum of Greenville, NC, Genesa Tatum Best (LaShawn), Kaydesha Tatum of Greenville, NC; two great-nephews that was his heart, Jaqouza Chavis of Greenville, NC, Malik Chavis of Greenville, NC; long time friends, Ronald Forbes, Timothy Daniels, Joey Daniels, Jr, Gabrielle Barnes and Dennis Teel, Willie Mae Harrell; his West Meadowbrook family along with the Harper family, Greenfield Terrace family; a host of cousins other relatives and friends.
