Mr. Lee Ray Mooring Sr.

February 29, 1948 - December 23, 2021

Lee Ray Mooring was born on February 9, 1948 in NC to the late Deacon Van Mooring and Katherine Mooring in Pitt County, NC. He departed this life on Thursday, December 23, 2021 at St. Joseph’s hospital in Paterson, NJ. Lee Ray moved to Paterson, NJ where he married the late Doris Jean Johnson and had four children, Twanda Mooring, Jessica Mooring, Lee Mooring and Lester Mooring. Lee Ray worked at Paterson Shades for 25 plus years until he retired in the early 2000’s. He was a dedicated worker who rarely called out even when sick. Lee Ray can be described as laid back, easy going, giving, and loving man who never complained even while in physical pain. He enjoyed listening to music and watching crime-based TV shows. Lee Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Van and Katherine Mooring; sisters, Elizabeth, Lula Mae, Thelma and Ann; brothers, John Jr., James Henry, Frank, Jimmy, Willie, William, David, Joseph, Charles, Van Jr. and Jessie Ray. Lee Ray leaves behind his four children, Twanda, Jessica, Lee and Lester; two granddaughters, Jaz’mon Alston and Destiny Williams; one great grandson, Zyon Nichols; in addition to numerous loving nieces, nephews, in- laws and lifelong friends.
