    Ms. Joyce Wooten

    April 17, 1951 - May 30, 2021

To view the service please go to Congleton Funeral Home and Cremations Facebook Page at the time of service. Mrs. Joyce Ann Stephenson Wooten transitioned to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, May 30, 2021 at Vidant Medical Center, Greenville NC. Joyce the daughter of the late John Wesley and Ruth Dixon Stephenson was born April 17, 1951 in Pitt County, where she spent her entire life. Joyce attended the C.M Eppes High School. She attended Phillipi Church of Christ. Joyce served the community as a caregiver forty years at Vidant Medical Center (formerly Pitt County Memorial Hospital). She later retired from the Brody School of Medicine as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant. Joyce loved the Lord and she loved people. She was attentive, caring, meticulous, and nurturing, always sharing herself with family and friends. Joyce was married to Charlie James Wooten. Joyce was preceded in death by a brother, John Wesley Stephenson Jr.; two sisters, Sharon S. Staton and Lynn Denise Smith. Joyce leaves to cherish her fondest memories, Deborah Nichelle Stevenson, daughter, Taylor Jones, granddaughter, Greenville, NC and her niece, Claudetta R. Fields (Tyronn), Franklinton, NC; three sisters, Rudena Stephenson and Catherine Stephenson, Greenville, NC and Madoline S. Hudson, Winterville, NC; one sister-in-law, Sudie H. Stephenson, Greenville, NC; two aunts, Earlene S. Sherman, Greenville, NC, and Dora Ann Hannah, Detroit, MI; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. I Live On (Author: Ron Tranmer) I died but did not leave you. I am here, and have not gone. Though my spirit left my body, don’t be sad, for I live on. My love is all around you. Can you feel it? Can you see? That gentle breeze upon your face is not the wind . . . but me. I’m the song of a blue bird, when spring is in the air. I am the rose in a garden. You can find me everywhere. I’m a raindrop and a rainbow. I am the ocean waves of blue; so everywhere you go, you will know, that I live on loving you.
