Mr. Jonathan Brown Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Jonathan Brown was born December 1, 1949 in Pink Hill, NC to the late Mitchell Lee Brown and Sadie Bell Houston Brown. He departed this life on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC. Jonathan or “Joe” as he was known by most, attended G.R. Whitfield School. He loved all types of Sports including football, basketball and even played basketball in his younger years. He also loved horses and really enjoyed going to the Rodeo when he had the time. His main passion, which was his lifelong career was being a Barber. Jonathan enjoyed everything about the art of barbering including teaching others his awesome techniques. He attended both Barber college and Cosmetology school. Jonathan had the entrepreneurial drive and passion to open his first Barbershop in Greenville, NC. He then went on to open a Barber & Hair styling salon: Headquarters Hair Command of Havelock, NC. He later received a state Instructors license from the NC State Board of Barber Examiners. With his determination and desire to teach and mentor others, he went on to open Headquarters Hair Styling Academy in Jacksonville, NC. His career as a Barber and entrepreneur would span more than 40 years. He loved it! Jonathan was preceded in death by his father, Mitchell Lee Brown, his mother, Sadie Bell Houston Brown; his daughter, Jennifer N. Brown; his brother, Odell Houston. Jonathan, leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter, Linda J. Brown-Harrell (Rodrick) of Charlotte, NC and his son, Jonathan Brown II of Parkville, MD; four grandchildren: Madeline and Zora Brown of Baltimore, MD; Camryn and Rodrick Harrell III of Charlotte, NC; five sisters, Katrina Moore (Bobby) of Greenville, NC, Sadie D. Daniels (Willie) of Grimesland, NC, Gloria Brown-Scott of Winterville, NC, Diane Brown of Winterville, NC, Carolyn Brown of Winterville, NC; two brothers, Michael Brown of Winterville, NC, Kenneth Brown of Greenville, NC; one aunt, Janette Riggins of Chicago, IL; one uncle, Clarence Houston (Catherine) of Warsaw, NC and a host of nieces , nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
