Mr. Johnnie G. Hardy

Johnnie Gray Hardy, son of the late Norman Lee Hardy, Sr. “Jack” and Blonnie Maye Hardy, was born on April 1, 1952 in Pitt County. He departed this life on Sunday, March 27, 2022. Johnnie graduated from G. R. Whitfield High School in 1970 where he was the class valedictorian. Johnnie furthered his education at North Carolina Central University where he graduated in 1974 with a degree in Business Administration. Upon graduation from college, Johnnie moved to Maryland where he managed several car dealerships. After the death of his brother Norman Jr. in 1992, Johnnie moved to Wappinger Falls, NY where he managed a State Farm Insurance Agency with his sister Alice for over 8 years. Johnnie moved back to North Carolina in October 2000, where he eventually retired. Johnnie never met a stranger and had the gift of “gab.” He will be missed by many. Johnnie was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Lloyd Hardy; his brother, Norman, Jr; nephew, Eric; great-nephew, Emani and god-brother, Gregory Wilson. Johnnie leaves to cherish his memories, 3 sisters, Betty Speights, Alice Williams (Rufus) and Carolyn Sherrod (Dennis) all of Greenville; 2 brothers, Bobby Hardy of Greenville and Dalton Hardy of Winterville; sister-in-law, Ella Murray (Mark); 2 aunts, Alice Clements (Richard) of Chesapeake, VA, Annie Eason of New Haven, Connecticut; one god-daughter, Rena Hodges of Waldolf, MD; one god-sister, Lois Daniels; 2 god-brothers, Jimmie Hardy and Michael Ray Rogers; 2 nieces, Carinda Brown and Erica Hardy; 2 nephews, Derrick Speights and James Brown, Jr; special cousins, Mary Ella Reddick and Shirley Harris; devoted friends, Phil Moore and Rufus Williams; a host of other relatives and friends.
