Rodman, the oldest of her siblings was born May 5, 1967 in Belhaven, NC to William "Bill" Hogans and Evelyn Vernice Rodman Griffin. She departed this life on Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at the Brooklyn Hospital Center in Brooklyn, NY. Janice affectionately known as "JP, Shinning Star" loved all walks of people and they loved her. When she met you and embraced you she considered you family. Everybody was cousin. Janice began her education at Beaufort County Elementary School. She relocated and attended PS 54 School in Brooklyn, NY and then later returned back to NC to continue her education and graduated from John A. Wilkinson High School in 1985. At the age of 12 Janice was baptized under G. R. Lovick and gave her life to CHRIST at Queen Chapel Church of CHRIST where she joined the youth choir and later the adult choir. She loved singing for the Lord. Throughout Janice's life she modeled CHRIST example of Love. Janice was a hard worker who held various jobs which included her last two at Sterling National Bank where she was a collector for 15 years. She not only was dedicated to doing her job. Janice build bonds and lifelong friendship. At the Bedford YMCA she was a member service representative for 13 years. She was known as the "Gatekeeper" where she was protective yet firm. She was very involved with the Jr. Knicks and the The Strong Kids understanding the importance of the Youth. Janice was fond of writing poems, taking pictures, and being known for her long nails, and she enjoyed getting a mani/pedi. She was famous for her "corn pudding". Janice reinvented it and it became a fan favorite that was requested at many family and friends functions. She also had a gift for picking out cards that pierced your Heart & Soul. Janice leaves to cherish her memories, her daughter, Jasmine Mone Thornton of Brooklyn, NY; Godsons, Corey Gibson of VA, Eric Wright, Jr. of NY; mother, Evelyn V. Griffin (Edward) of Pantego, NC; father, William "Bill" Hogans (Shirley) of Queens, NY; step-mother, Carolyn Headley of NY; brother, Michael Adams of NJ; sisters, Valencia Burrus (Ed) of Winterville, NC, Tonya Griffin of Brooklyn, NY, Rachelle Hogans of Hopewell Junction, NY, Latisha Cardwell (Mark) of W. VA; great uncle, Earnest Bell (Annie) of Baltimore, MD; great aunt, Vernice Collins of Washington, NC; uncles, William Ed Rodman (Lisa) of Baton Rouge, LA, Thomas Rodman of Terra Ceia, NC, Otis Carl Hogans of Winston, GA; aunts, Annie M. Green (Vernon) of Washington, NC Geraldine Collins of Terra Ceia, Beaulah Keyes, Lutisha Bonner (Arthur) of Belhaven, NC, Thelma Hogans Marville (Alfred) of Midlothian, VA, Fannie Hogans Anderson (Eddie) of Brooklyn, NY, Alberta Hogans Collins (Phillip) of NY, seven nephews; four nieces; two great nieces; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. You all held a special place in her heart.
