Frances Shaneil Land was born to the late Verna and Lesile T. Land on July 15, 1950 in Williamston, NC. She departed this life on Wednesday, December 22, 2021. Frances attended and completed EJ Hayes (elementary and high school) in Williamston, NC. She later obtained her associates degree in childhood education from Jersey State College (University). Frances’s career and personal journey would take her to Newark, NJ where she met and married David Allen Mitchell. While in NJ she taught preschool and kindergarten for many years before joining the staff at Union County Division of Social Services. Frances was known for her unique gift of encouragement which she shared with so many people. She had a special bond with her Child Support Unit. In the late 70’s she joined the Trinity Temple Seven Day Adventist Church, embracing The Seven Day Adventist Sabbath and three Angels message “To Fear God and Give Him Glory,” wholeheartedly. There she started the Women’s Ministry. While leading the Women’s Ministry she formed a special bond with a group of women affectionately known as the MAGS (magnificent 7). As a result, a younger group budded, calling themselves the Magonets. Upon retiring in 2017 Frances returned to Williamston and was led by the Holy Spirit to The Washington Seven Day Adventist Church. There she was met with warmth and open arms by a loving congregation. She resumed leading the Women’s Ministry until she became ill.
