Psalm 23:1 Edison Norman transitioned form labor to reward on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Ridgewood Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Washington, NC. The sunrise of life began for Edison, on July 12, 1931 in the Pea Ridge Community of Washington County. He was the son of the late Ned Norman and the late Hester Halsey. Edison attended the Pea Ridge Community School in Roper, NC. Edison relocated to several areas but was always in church on Sunday mornings. In the late 1990’s he became a member of Mt. Hebron Church of Christ where he served on the Senior Usher Board. In 2003 Edison and other members formed a church mission and later founded what is presently known as New Birth Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ) 822 Hackney Ave. Washington, NC. He served faithfully as a trustee of the church even sharing other duties. Always willing to serve above and beyond what was asked of him for the good of the church. In October 2019, Edison was honored by the Washington-Norfolk District Assembly for his outstanding work as a trustee. Edison was employed with Mackeys Mill Perdue Farms, Cottle Equipment Company and later retiring at Mason Lumber Company. Edison was a veteran of The United States Army and served faithfully for his country. Edison was preceded in death by two daughters, Shirley Jones, Doris Norman; his brother, Haywood Norman. Today we return to God one of His most precious gifts to us. Edison leaves to cherish his loving memories, children, Mary Smith of Windsor, NC, Edison Lionel Norman of Wilmington, NC, Tomeka Norman of Florida; twelve grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
