Mr. Daryal Lee Burns
May 22, 1956 - February 12, 2022
Daryal Lee Burns was born May 22, 1956, in Martin County to the late Artist Burns and Eula Shepherd Burns. He was the second of six children. Daryal departed this life on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Vidant Edgecombe Hospital in Tarboro, NC. Three siblings preceded him in death: Ernie Burns, Artist (Bertha) Burns and Ameche (Gwen) Burns. Left with special memories of his life are two siblings, Gene Burns - Durham, NC and a sister, LaBrena Burns - Durham, NC. He also leaves to cherish two nephews, Artist Tyrone Burns, Jr. - Greensboro, NC and Uri Burns- Durham, NC; two nieces, Clarissa (Shaun) Evans- Teaneck, NJ and Providancia (Quamier) Harrison- Durham, NC; a host of great nieces and nephews, relatives and cherished friends. Daryal was a graduate of Robersonville High School. He attended Martin Community College in Williamston, NC and majored in Auto Mechanics. Daryal’s career and personal journey took him to Greensboro, NC where he held jobs within the manufacturing industry. After the passing of Artist “Ronie,” Daryal relocated to Durham, NC to be closer to other siblings. He became an employee of Gene’s construction company. Years later, he felt the need to get closer to home. He returned to Robersonville and began his own landscaping business. While Daryal’s life and countless experiences cannot be summed up in a few sentences, he was known most for his love of driving (racing when younger), cars, martial arts and comedy. He made the best of whatever situation he had to endure at the time. If he could help you, he would without hesitation. If you wanted a good laugh or a smile, Daryal was the man for the job. Once asked, “Why do you have something to say to everybody?” His response “I just want to see people happy. I don’t mean to offend anyone or make people mad; I just want people to smile or laugh in my presence.” Anyone who truly knew Daryal has a story of something he said or did and laughter will always follow. With Daryal, “What you saw was what you got.” He was unapologetically himself. Daryal’s infectious laughter and humor will remain in our hearts forever. As we leave this place today, may we continue to spread joy and laughter to our loved ones in honor of Daryal.
