Tributes

For Cynthia Woolard, the fleeting moments between time and eternity. Commonly called life-had her genesis in Bethel Clinic, Bethel, NC.. It was there that she was born July 25, 1955, daughter of the late John W. Rodgers and Huta Teele Rodgers. The omega part of her life ended at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC on Wednesday, October 30, 2013. It was here that a vibrant spirit and valiant struggle came to a peaceful conclusion. Her early schooling was in Martin County School System. She graduated from Robersonville High School in 1973. She later attended Martin Community College in Williamston, NC where she acquired Associate Degrees in Micro Computer Systems, General Office Technology and Business Administration. Her workplaces included Stanadyne Automotives, Southern Apparel, Clark Pharmacy and Clarks Home Medical in Williamston, NC. Cynthia was a member of House of Refugee Church Ministries under the leadership of Pastor Ronnie and Co-Pastor Angel Staton. She served faithfully with the Usher Board, Choir, Finance Committee and as a Sunday School Teacher until her illness would not allow further labor. Even doing her illness she kept saying “I want to go to church”. There she found purpose, strength, and solace in serving as a member. She became well-rooted in her abiding faith in God and sincere love for humanity. Cynthia was a compassionate and loyal friend, loving sister and mother of many. She took the spirit of opening her doors to others who were homeless and hopeless from her grandfather William “Gus” Teel. She had the tendency to put the needs of others in front of her own. Cynthia was married to Jerry D. Woolard, Sr. who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a sister Alora Rodgres Artis and brother Johnnie Edwards. The uplift Cynthia bought to herself and others in the course of her lifetime, the appetite for life and living which are the rich legacies she leaves to her children; Via Woolard (Travis) of the home, and Jerry D. Woolard II of Durham. NC; grandson Jeremiah (Duney) Woolard, who she loved dearly of Durham NC; sister Janifa Williams of Greenville, NC; brother John C. Rodgers of the home; special nephew Rodney Artis of the home; extended children, Katrina Whitfield of Philadelphia, Pa. and Marvin Griffin of Williamston, NC; extended brothers Bishop Claudie Wilkins (Deloris) of Robersonville, NC, Grover Wilkins (Yvonne) of Newark, New Jersery, David Moore (Viseel) of Long Island, New York; mother-in-law Eva Woolard of Williamston, NC; sisters-in-law Beverly Paul (Hank) of Bowie, Maryland, Marilyn Woolard of Williamston, NC and dear lifelong devoted friend, Kermit Jerome Brown of Williamston, NC; and host of nieces, nephew, aunts, uncles, great-uncle, other relatives and friends embraced in a circle of love.
