Mr. Charles Settles

June 30, 1938 - March 4, 2022

Charles Donald Settles (Charlie) entered this life on June 30, 1938 to the late Thomas and Pearl Settles. He was the youngest son of 11, preceded in death by Thomas, Jessie, Leslie, Essie, Dorothy, Paul, Dolores and Doris. Surrounded by family, Charles was called home on Friday March 4, 2022 in Greenville, NC. Charles was educated in the Darby Public School system, where he played football, ran track and field and sang in the chorus, and graduated in the Class of 1956.. After graduation Charles would go on to serve in the US Air Force. Charles went on to work for over 20 years for Boeing Vertol in various positions. While working for Boeing full time, Charles sought to further his education and received a Bachelor of Science degree from Cheyney University in 1975. Before his early retirement Charles was employed as a Civil Engineer - Buyer for Allied Cigna. Charles leaves to cherish his memories, his wife Mary Jane; two daughters, Renee Settles of Chester, PA and Pamela Graves (Earl) of Media, PA ; one stepdaughter, Monique Thomas (Ritchie) of Winterville, NC; one stepson, Robert Williams of Edgewood, MD; a sister, Gladys Whitsett of Sharon Hill, PA; a brother, Howard Settles (Frances)of Colorado Springs, CO; four grandchildren, Nicholle Moore (Durell), Amber Graves, Jordan Graves and Loreal Thomas; four great-grandchildren, Riley, Paige, Chase and Cameron; a goddaughter, Aerin Thompson (Apollo); a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
