On December 31, 2017 at 12:15am, General Mother Alice Ruth Rountree transitioned from her mortal life into her eternal glory. General Mother Alice Ruth Rountree was born on March 11, 1929 to the late Oscar and the late Alice Stanley in Edgecombe County. Later her family moved to Pitt County where she attended Clark Neck School. General Mother was united in holy matrimony to the late Henry Hugh Morris Roundtree on May 24, 1946. To this union ten children were born. In her earlier years, she worked at Tastee Freeze Restaurant in Greenville, NC with one of her best friends, the late Mother Beatrice Carter. In addition she worked many years at Scott Cleaners as a presser where she later retired. Mother was raised as a God fearing child. At an early age, she joined Burney’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in Black Jack, NC. She later moved her membership to First Born Holy Church in Grimesland, NC under the leadership of the late James Lot Smith. Mother was very devoted to her church. For many years she worked faithfully on the Mother Board along with the late Mother Martha Smith, the late Mother Mary Kennedy, the late Mother Cannon, and Mother Chapman. They were firm but loving, their teaching remains today in many hearts. Mother held the place as the number one fund raiser at First Born Holy Church. In 2003 she joined Faith and Deliverance Pentecostal Holiness under the leadership of Chief Apostle W.C. and Julia Williams, where she was appointed as Head Mother. In 2005 the Lord saw Mother worthy to call her to preach the gospel. General Mother’s favorite scripture was St. John 15:5; her first message was, “You Must Have Fruit on Your Vines”. Later in the year of 2005, she was appointed to be The General Mother of the Pentecostal Assembly of God Ministries. General Mother is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Roundtree; one daughter, Alice; two sons-in-law, Herbert Staton, Richard Green; two grandsons, Donta Moore, Titus Williams; four great grandchildren Lisa Smith. General Mother leaves to cherish her memories, eight daughters, Donnell Staton, Rose Manley (Allen), Brenda Reese (Melvin), Patricia Hayes all of Greenville, NC, Vivian Smith (Thomas), Cheryl Rountree all of Grimesland, NC, Julia Williams (Warren), Gayle Rountree all of Winterville, NC; one son, Hugh Morris Rountree of Greenville, NC; two sisters, Annie Small of Forest Park, GA, Margarat Roach ( Daniel) of New Haven, CT; two brothers, Julius Stanley, Ronnie Stanley both of California; the Lord blessed General Mother Rountree to see four generations; sixty seven grandchildren (white ribbons), one hundred twenty six great grandchildren (dark pink ribbons), great great grandchildren (light pink ribbons); three brothers-in-law, one sister-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and God children.
