Mrs Vernelle Parker O'neal

“My Work is Done and I’m Going Home” Sister Vernell Parker O’neal was born April 28, 1937 in Hamilton, North Carolina to the late Jobie Parker and Rosie Black Parker—she was a product of a Christian home. Sister Vernell received her educational training from Oak City School System. Prior to marriage she continued her education by taking numerous courses at Greystone Park Morris in Plains, NJ. She was employed by Howmet Corporation in Dover, NJ until she retired after 29 faithful years. She was the widower of Morris O’neal, Sr. whom she married in December 24, 1956 in Morristown, NJ. They enjoyed many years of entertaining and traveling all over the states until the Lord called him home in April 1998. Her exposure to religious training from her parents led her to be a faithful member of several churches. Beginning at an early age, she joined Willow Chapel Baptist Church, Gold Point, NC and later when she moved to New Jersey, she joined St. Luke AME Church in Newark, New Jersey. After retiring she united with Anderson Chapel AME Church, Greenville, NC. In 2003, she became a member of Anderson Chapel AME Church, where she served on the Steward Board, Past President of the Local church, the Missionary Society and Senior Ministry of Anderson Chapel. She was also an active member of the NC Lay Organization. An unforgettable woman who was loved and respected by all, Vernell was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and Christian—always willing to help others. She was the middle child of 12 children; eight siblings preceded her in death: Barbara Jean Rhodes, Arthur L. Teel, Clayton Parker, Rosa L. Parker Purvis, Jessie P. Parker, William E. Parker, Linwood D. Parker, and Margaret Parker. Her many memories are cherished by her two sons, Morris O’neal, Jr., Myron O’neal; one daughter, Mone’ O’neal; three grandchildren, Adriane and Te-nja Paramore and Morris O’neal III; five great-grandchildren, Allante, Zaneer, Ladrina, Zane’ and Zabari; two brothers, Jobie Parker (Louise), Morristown, NJ, Kenneth Parker (Constance), Plainfield, NJ; one remaining sister, Emma L. Simon, Hamilton, NC; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
