On Saturday, July 25, 2026, God, in His infinite wisdom and mercy, called His faithful servant, Minister Valentine Perkins, home to eternal rest. She was born on February 21, 1952, in Ayden, North Carolina, to the late Charlie Edward Long and Mary Magdalene Darden Long. Minister Valentine Perkins was a devoted woman of faith whose life reflected her unwavering love for God, her family, and her community. She accepted the call to preach the Gospel and faithfully shared God's Word wherever He led her. Her ministry was not confined to the pulpit; she ministered through her compassion, kindness, and willingness to serve others. She graduated from W. H. Robinson, Class of 1970. Following high school, she attended Pitt Community College, where she earned her certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). She worked as a CNA for a short time at Pitt Memorial Hospital, where she compassionately cared for patients before pursuing other career opportunities. Shortly thereafter, she met and married the love of her life, Ernest Perkins. Together they built a loving family and were blessed with three children. A dedicated and hardworking woman, Minister Perkins was the proud owner and operator of a Home Daycare for a short time and Early Bird Taxi Company for many years. She also devoted herself to caring for others through her work as a personal care aide with Clemmie Family Care Home and Silvercare, where her compassionate spirit touched the lives of many. She leaves to cherish her precious memories her children, Ernest Daniel Perkins Jr., Tricia Dianne Perkins, and Kimberly Wynette Allen (Leroy Allen); her two brothers, Charlie Mack Long and Lougine Long, both of Greenville, North Carolina; and her seven beloved grandchildren: Darnell Reese, Raekwon Perkins, Reginald Perkins, Rushawn Perkins, Briana Perkins, Lanette Allen, and Shon'Teara Allen, all of Greenville, North Carolina. She also leaves behind a host of cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever treasure her love, wisdom, and enduring legacy. Minister Valentine Perkins will be remembered for her steadfast faith, generous heart, tireless work ethic, and the countless lives she touched through her ministry, caregiving, and acts of service. Though she has departed from this earthly life, her legacy of faith, love, and compassion will continue to inspire all who knew and loved her. "Well done, good and faithful servant...
