Shawn O’Brian Glast, “Our Miracle Boy” peacefully departed this life at home surrounded by loved ones on Monday, July 20, 2026. Born on November 25, 1971, in Greenville, North Carolina, Shawn was the cherished son of late Connie Glast and Carolyn Little Glast. Although Shawn faced physical and intellectual challenges throughout his life, he was a living testament to God’s grace, strength, and faithfulness. Doctors once believed he would not live beyond his first year of life, but God had greater plans. Shawn blessed his family with 54 years of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. Shawn’s educational journey began at the UCP Developmental Center at Hooker Memorial Church in Greenville, NC. He later attended the Farmville Developmental Center before continuing his education at E.B. Aycock, where he remained until the age of 21. As a result of his years of schooling, he acquired a variety of skills to help him enjoy life to the fullest while also gaining lifelong friendships. He was always surrounded by loving hands and hearts that catered to his every need. Shawn’s gentle spirit touched everyone who knew him. His smile could brighten a room, his laughter was contagious, and he found great joy in listening to gospel music. He shared a special bond with his sister and mom that he leaves for them to cherish. His life was a beautiful reminder that true strength is measured not by physical ability, but by the love, joy, and light one shares with others. Those who knew Shawn will remember his pure heart, his sweet soul, and the countless ways he brought happiness to those around him. Shawn was lovingly cared for by his loving parents and devoted sister Sharon. Their love for one another was evident to everyone fortunate enough to witness it. He was also cared for and loved by other family members whose unwavering compassion and selfless dedication reflected the deep bond they all shared. Shawn was preceded in death by his father, Connie Glast; his maternal grandparents, Roy and Pauline Little; his paternal grandparents, Charlie and Hannah Glast; along with other beloved family members who have gone before him. Shawn leaves to cherish his precious memory with his loving mother, Carolyn Little Glast; his sister, Sharon White (Darin); his nephew, Trevian O’Brian White; his niece, Tiara Simms (Thomas); along with extended family members and dear friends who will forever treasure the blessing of having known him. We hold a special place in our hearts for his Aunt Vickie Little, Patricia Crandell and Marilyn Yarrell (his buddy) for the loving, spiritual, and dedicated care they gave him. Though our hearts grieve his passing, we find peace in knowing that Shawn is no longer experiencing pain or limitations. We rejoice in the promise that he is now resting in the presence of the Lord, whole and at peace. “Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of thy Lord.” — Matthew 25:23
