Mrs. Sarah (Rugenia) Roberson-August known by most as Bae/Aunt Bae was called home on November 29, 2024. Born to the late Joseph and Sarah Roberson on March 4, 1948 in Williamston, North Carolina. Sarah loved the Lord God with all her heart, soul and mind; her faith was strong. She was a virtuous mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and a great friend to many. She loved her family and friends with all her heart. Everyone who knew Sarah (Bae) loved spending time with family and friends. Sarah attended and graduated from E.J. Hayes High School in Williamston, North Carolina in 1966. After graduation Sarah moved to Stamford Connecticut where she worked for the Cheesebrough Ponds Company. Returning home, she was a substitute teacher for Oak City School System in NC. She joined The U.S. Army. After a short stint in The U.S. Army, she moved to Alexandria, VA, were she met and married Crawford August. For 30 years she worked and retired from the U.S. Naval Air Systems Command located in Crystal City, Virginia and Lexington Park, Maryland. All through her younger years she was a member of the AME Zion Church (Rhodes Street) and Green Memorial Disciples Church (Down the Hill) in Williamston, North Carolina. After moving back to Williamston, North Carolina from Greensville, North Carolina she became a member of the Back Swamp Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ where Elder Derrick L Wilkins, Ph.D., Pastor. Where she attended until she was overcome with her illness. She was a faithful member and liked by all and will be missed. Besides her parents she was also preceded in death by sisters, Jannie Smallwood and Vallerie Ann Dixon. Sarah leaves to mourn her son, Joseph Wycliff Roberson, Sr; grandchildren, Joseph Jr, Justin D, Jahaan D, Jamal D, Zachary, Shawnetta, Sarah R, Jayla W; great grandchildren, Julian, Joseph III, Jeremiah, King, Penelope, Joley R; her late sister, Vallerie Ann Roberson Dixon children that she raised after her death; niece, Jomya L. Dixon; grandchildren, Legend V. Dixon and A’Kera S. Dixon; great grandchildren, Joshawna R. and Nevaeh K Dixon; nephew William Paul Roberson, Sr (Valaneice); grandchildren, William Jr, Tyzhae M, Jarnah S, Wykiea Y, Trenisha D, Kenneth L (bonus son); great grandchildren, Karter, Jazayah, Kenndy, William III, Zy'meir, Ameir, Alayah, Sabir, J'ream, Lyfe, Mulani, Layanna, and Kamari; sister, Audrey Hermenia Roberson Waller Roberson (Henry) of Colonial Beach, VA; nieces, Tracey B Michelle of Fredericksburg, VA (Children, Michael, Wellington and Grand); Starr Nichelle Mason (Donald) of Fredericksburg, VA; children, Haisix. and Gregory P.R.); Samantha Richelle Roberson of Winterville, NC; children, Sterling Kyon and Logan Halston, Lucy Smallwood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Valerie Fure (Clarence); children, Jordon and Kayla of Williamston, North Carolina; brother-in-law, William Dixon, Jr of Winchester, Va. She leaves behind three devoted friends, Joan Peele Brown of Williamston, North Carolina, whom she met in the second grade. The friendship continued through graduation until her departure. They were always there for each other through the ups and the downs of life, their friendship was everlasting. Clifton Brown a devoted friend and partner. They met in Alexandria, Virginia, which was the beginning of a long relationship. He was always there to lend a helping hand when needed. They were friends for over Fifty-five years. Shirlean Cole a loving friend and caregiver for over forty-five plus years.
