A Time To Be Born Robert Lee Johnson, Sr, known to his family and friends as “Rob or Robert” was born on June 11, 1944 in Washington, DC to the late George Hampton Johnson and Marie Gilmore Johnson, from Richmond County, Virginia and Asheville, North Carolina. A Time For Peace On Tuesday, March 18, 2025 our Father God in his infinite wisdom, allowed Robert Lee Johnson, Sr to transition from his earthly dwelling to his heavenly home. A Time To Grow Robert was born and flourish in the Nations Capitol and received his formal education from the DC Public Schools Systems and American University. He graduated with many honors. A Time To Love Robert finally married the love of His life. A women name Patricia “Pat” whom he fondly called his “Honey Bee.” Robert was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. Robert’s family-centered values were beyond ordinaire, it reached into the stars, ancestry meant everything to him, how and when we came from their ashes. He was a very loving and compassionate man, kind-hearted and wise beyond his years. Family, family, family was of great importance, and he proved that time and time again by visiting and checking in with everyone. Attending any and all functions large or small, be it birthdays, graduations, funerals, you name it he was there. Robert would gather up the old as well as the little ones, traveling near or far, it didn’t matter to him and the twinkle in his eyes each time God graced our families with new additions, be it boy or girl, he claimed each one as his “Babies.” He channeled his entire existence in love. A Time To Worship Robert served his Lord and Savior in a mighty way. In his early days of Christian experience. He was raised to worship. He attended church and dutifully offered himself as a good steward and lending help to all who stood in need. He attended his parents church, but raised in his grandmother’s church in Washington DC, Peace Baptist Church. His grandmother Pearl Gilmore Jackson was a mighty force in the church. As he matured in faith, he gained a greater appreciation for the “gift of grace.” Robert set a personal standard in accordance with Deuteronomy 6:67 “These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts, impress them on your children, talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road. When you lay down and when you get up; he learned all this from his father early into his adulthood, then he practiced those scriptures and was known to do both throughout his community and within the family. Robert was always planting spiritual seeds upon anyone who had ears to hear and would listen. Some might find it strange that he was so serious and committed in spreading the Gospel especially with his grandchildren. Robert along with his wife, Patricia, joined his family’s church in Haynesville, VA on Christian experiences, then under the pastoral leadership of Pastor James Johnson who shepherded them both to a lasting relationship not only to the God they served but to Lyells Chapel Baptist Church. To God Be The Glory for The Things He Has Done! A Time To Remember Robert was preceded in death by his parents, George Hampton Johnson and Marie Gilmore Johnson; his step-mother, Bertha Chase Johnson; his grandparents; his three brothers, Melvin and William Johnson, George Jr; his sister, Gloria Mackall; brother-in-law, Bernard Mackall; nieces, Loretta Marion, Gloria Skeleton, Barbara Weaver, Georgia Mae Bailey, Leslie Bailey; his son, Andre Lee Johnson; his grandson, Angelo Johnson; great-grandson, Savion Williams(infant); step-daughter, Isha Williams; nephews, Thomas Faunteroy, Jr, Robert Faunteroy, Daniel Faunteroy, Michael Proctor; his Virginia family, Edward Johnson (uncle), Anna J Thompson (Earl), Frances Yerby (Vernon), Helen Sayles, Albert Carter; sisters-in-law, Annie Johnson Patterson, Florine Johnson; brother-in-law, Leroy Greene; two lifelong friends, Kenny Gray, Lawrence Whaytes. A Time To Cherish Robert leaves to cherish his memories, his wife Patricia Johnson; his children, Robert Johnson, Jr of Maryland, Awan Johnson of Seattle Washington, Martha Johnson-Patton of Oceanside Calfornia, Sharone Everett of Oxon Hill, MD, Michelle Everett of Washington, DC, Ivy Angel (Mark) of Waldorf, Maryland, Jody Artis (Christopher) of Brandywine, MD, Brandy Wynn (Arnold) of Washington, DC, James P. Johnson of Gaithersburg, MD, Saquan Ir-Rahman (Antoine), MD; neighborhood sons of Trinidad of Washington, DC who called him “Father”; twenty-three grandchildren; twenty-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends; his lifelong friends he called brothers, Oscar Jeter, Otis Freeman, Harry Staley. Robert’s cordial caring nature he shared with everyone, be it family or friends will be missed dearly by all.
