Ms. Pauline Marie Tillery

On Monday April 17, 2023 Pauline (Polly) went home to be with her mother and father in the arms of the Lord. Pauline Marie Tillery called Polly, was born on October 7, 1941 to Jimmy Lee Tillery and Pauline Mariah Smith Tillery in Scotland Neck, North Carolina. She left for her enteral journey on April 17, 2023. They moved from Scotland Neck, NC to Robersonville, NC. She got her education from East End School, Robersonville, NC. In her early twenties she lived in Brooklyn, NY. City life was not for her. She came back to Robersonville, NC. Polly was a member at Rock Hill Baptist Church and later a member of Roberson Missionary Baptist Church in Robersonville, NC. At both churches she was Secretary and she sung in the Senior Choir. Polly loved to sew. Whatever you wanted, she could make it. Sometimes she made things before they were even fashionable. She taught us all how to sew that wanted to learn. She made sure her daughters, younger sisters and cousins all knew who Ms. Syliva was. She took us to get our hair done at Ms. Syliva’s Salon, sometimes every two weeks. She used to sing in a Gospel group with her brother, sister, daddy and family friends, “The Zion Travelettes.” She was an “Eastern Star.” Polly was known as “The Cake lady.” She made every and any kind of cakes. Her specialty was chocolate cake, punch bowl cake, and Red Velvet cake. She passed on her skills to her daughters. One can cook anything and the other can bake. Polly was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jimmie; sisters, Dorothy, Alma, Ethel. Polly leaves to mourn, two daughters, Delores T Bell (Terence) of Fayetteville, NC, Cynthia Annette Tillery of Robersonville, NC; three sons, Vincent R Tillery (Stephanie) of Charlotte, NC, Joseph F. Tillery of Fayetteville, NC, James Derrick Tillery, of Ludowici, GA; eight grandchildren, Jovonia, Terence II, Kendra, Katherine, Tyrell, Rico, Nicole & Fantasia; thirteen great-grandchildren, Trevon, Carson, Londyn, Laylani, Andrew, Joshua, Caleb, Jordan, Logan, Alexander, Arielle, Mylee and Tiana; one sister, Teresa Y. Tillery of Robersonville, NC; two brothers, James E. Tillery of Charlotte, NC, Joe H. Tillery (Sandra) of Hampton, GA; one aunt, Esther Smith of Robersonville, NC; one uncle, George Smith (Linda) of Williamston, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
