Mr. Nathaniel Gainer Jr.

"And God shall wipe all tears from their eyes; And there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, Nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain." Nathaniel Gainer, Jr., the son of the late Bertha and Nathaniel Gainer, Sr. was born February 25, 1940 in Stamford, CT. Having been reared in a Christian home, he accepted Christ at an early age and joined Faith Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church as his place of Worship. Having served as a deacon at Faith Tabernacle, he continued to serve as a deacon at Cedar Hill. He attended the public schools of Stamford, CT and graduated from high school in Mount Dora, Florida. For twenty nine years he was employed as a United States Postal Carrier. He was affectionately called "the mailman" by those dear to him. Nathaniel had a passion for singing. He sang in the Cedar Hill Missionary Baptist Church Male Chorus and the Cedar Hill Missionary Baptist Church Mass Choir. He thoroughly enjoyed singing " Sweet Hour of Prayer." The family is grateful to God for blessing our lives with the presence of His child, Nathaniel. We are especially thankful for his dedication to his wife whom he affectionately referred to as Baby. His hard work, encouragement, and never-ending support of others will be sorely missed. After a brief illness, Nathaniel Gainer, Jr. transitioned from labor to reward on February 6, 2016 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC. Nathaniel is preceded in death by a brother, Lee William. To rejoice in his memory and to mourn his passing he leaves his lovely wife, Annie of the home; three daughters, Lolita Gainer of Baltimore, MD, Deweese Ramon of Stamford, CT, Natalie Gainer of Norwalk, CT; two stepson, Kenneth Strickland of Clayton, NC; Darren Strickland of Janeville, WI; one special grandson, Kenneth Wiggins of Charlotte, NC; three sisters, Alice Hardy (Carl Lee) of Fayetteville, NC, Frances Turner and Queenie Gainer Stephens of Stamford, CT; sixteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, one uncle, Enoch Gainer of Stamford, CT; sisters-in-law, Linda Wills (Gaston) and Dorothy Wills (Nathan) of Williamston, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. "For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, them which also sleep in Jesus will God bring with Him.....wherefore comfort one another with these words." I Thessalonians 4:14-18
