Mattie RaSheena Brown, beloved family member and friend who was known affectionately as “Sheena”, was born on November 15, 1975 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville, North Carolina to Connie and Dwayne Brown. After her family moved to Nashville, Tennessee in 1979, Sheena attended schools in Metropolitan Davidson County and graduated from North Pitt High School in Bethel, North Carolina. Sheena had a zeal for life and wanted to make the most of the opportunities presented to her. As a very young girl, Sheena would sit at her grandparents' kitchen table and stack her coins in piles like her grandfather to show how much money she had since she could not yet count. During her school-age years, her fun would include gathering with her sisters to sing and dance for family and friends. As a mother, she was determined to give her son, Troy, the best she had, and throughout her life, she would generously give to others, especially family, to show how much she loved and cared for them. Her love for entertaining and spending time with her family and friends continued until her health declined. Sheena was very bright and was a diligent worker. During her years as a student, Sheena excelled academically. While at the Ford Glass Plant in Nashville, she worked hard as an employee until her health physically prevented her from doing so. After leaving Ford, Sheena would enjoy selling purses and having purse parties to avoid idleness. Sheena was determined to live life beyond difficult circumstances. God orchestrated events so that Sheena’s final Thanksgiving was spent with her paternal family in Huntsville, Alabama, and her final Christmas was spent with her maternal family in Virginia Beach, Virginia. God worked it out perfectly because Sheena was able to share special times with family that she had not seen in many years. On January 15, 2017, the sparkle in our beloved Sheena’s eyes was dimmed in Virginia Beach, Virginia, after a lengthy illness. Known for her beautiful smile, Sheena will be sorely missed. Sheena was predeceased by her father, Dwayne H. Brown, and leaves to mourn and cherish her memory, one loving and devoted son, Troy; loving mother, Connie Stanley (Charles); devoted sisters: Lola Brown-Norris (Dedric), Latrece Brown, Kaye Rouse (Juarez), Bonnie Robinson, and Ashley Robinson; devoted brother, Charles Stanley, Jr.; maternal grandmother, Lola Mae Ruffin; adoring nieces, Ciera Daniels, Paige Brown, Kayleigh Cobb, Bentley Robinson, Deja and Devyn Norris; nephew, Jaqwan Cobb; sisters-cousins, Twyla Ruffin, Rakelle Joyner (Tommy), Leslie Belfield (Eddie); best friends for life, Kolisha Crayton and Sonya Crenshaw; several aunts, uncles and close cousins; a host of other family and friends.
