Deacon “Mason” Alexander Knight, 78, was born on February 20, 1948, in Pitt County, North Carolina, to the late Eddie Knight, Sr. and the late Laura Perkins Knight. He peacefully entered into eternal rest at home on Saturday, July 18, 2026. Deacon Knight received his education through the public school system and graduated with the Bethel Union High School Class of 1966. Following graduation, he immediately entered the workforce, beginning a lifetime marked by dedication, integrity, and service. On February 20, 1968, he was united in holy matrimony to Frances J. Hill. Their loving union was blessed with three sons, and together they built a home centered on love and family. As time journeyed on, Deacon Knight became a devoted member of Willow Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, where he faithfully served for many years. In May 1999, he was ordained as a Deacon and served in various capacities with unwavering commitment. He dearly loved his church family and found great joy in serving the Lord and His people. Deacon Knight also enjoyed hosting and attending the Knight Family Reunions, creating lasting memories with relatives near and far. His greatest joy came from being surrounded by his wife, children, grandchildren, extended family, and in-laws, where laughter, fellowship and delicious meals were always shared. Known affectionately as "Mason", he committed much of his life to serving his community. Mason was known for his strong work ethic and dedication to serving others. He worked for the Robersonville and Williamston Fire Departments, P&H Exhaust, Dixie Motor Company, Matthew Sessoms, all located in Williamston, North Carolina. Later, he faithfully served his community through his own lawn service (M.A. Knight Lawn Service). His dedication to emergency services earned him several recognitions for outstanding service and leadership, including awards for his commitment while serving with Robersonville Rescue/EMS in 1999. He also served as President of Williamston Rescue/EMS from 1999 to 2001, where he demonstrated exceptional leadership and genuine compassion for the citizens of the community. Beyond his professional and church service, Deacon Knight remained active in the Bethel Union Association, the Bethel Alumni Association, and the Bethel High School Class of 1966 Planning Committee, always giving generously of his time and talents. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Linwood Knight, Samuel Knight, Curtis Knight, and Eddie Knight; four sisters, Betty Marie Daniels, Martha Person, Adell Clemons, and Nan Parker; his parents-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hill; and several brothers- and sisters-in-law. Deacon Knight leaves to cherish his loving memory his devoted wife, Deaconess Frances Hill Knight; three sons, Sean D. Knight of Elizabeth City, NC, Kendall L. Knight of New Bern, NC, and Alexander "Al" Knight (Chandra) of Williamston, NC; 25 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; his sisters, Dorothy Robinson (Joe), Lillian Redmond, and Pearline Hamilton (John); his brothers- and sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and his beloved church family. Deacon Knight was the last surviving brother of twelve siblings in the Knight family. As we pause to bid God's benediction upon his life, we thank Him for blessing us with the love of such a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, church servant, community leader, neighbor, and friend. Deacon Knight's life was a “testimony of faith, hard work, love, and dedication.” Though he has answered the Master's call, “There Was Something About This Man” his legacy will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
