Margarene was born on December 3, 1944, the first of three beautiful girls to the late Clifton Worsley and Beulah Cherry Worsley German in Durham, North Carolina. Margarene's early childhood life was happily spent on the spacious and open fresh-air farm of her beloved grandparents (Mack & Hettie) who nourished her with a strong belief in family and her Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ as her Savior. She was baptized at the early age of 12 at Weeping Mary Baptist Church in Hassell/Bethel, North Carolina, with her mother, sisters, cousins, uncles, aunts, and neighboring friends who provided her with the tenacious desire to be a vibrant person filled with love and life of great spirit for people and nature surrounding her growing-up years. Margarene attended and graduated from Salisbury Elementary School and West Martin High School in Martin County, North Carolina, where she was a diligent, vibrant, studious student with honors. She participated in school government, yearly musical and theatrical plays, as well as exhibiting her piano skills in schools, churches (choir, Sunday School, summer Bible School ) and community activities. At many last-minute weddings, she even played the prelude to "Here Comes the Bride" for newlywed couples. She loved sharing her gifts and talents. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Elizabeth City State University in North Carolina and Master's Degree in Education from Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland, with other numerous outstanding certifications, citations and awards. Her love for teaching children began in 1967 in the school district of Rocky Mount, North Carolina. From there she traveled and worked in Cleveland, Ohio, moving to the Arundel Public Schools System in the school district of Glen Bernie, Maryland, until her retirement in 2004, giving her a total of 35 years of serving children and all mankind. Margarene's passion, love and concern for others were demonstrated by joining the Usher Board Ministry and other auxiliaries during her tenure at Reid Temple AME Church. Her active participation in church allowed her to become a solider marching on to Zion to visit the city of God. Margarene leaves to cherish her memories and carry on her legacy: devoted husband, Ingram Munn; son, Maurice Murrell; daughter, Zelda King; grandson, Darren Shroyer; sisters, Maxine Worsley Owens and Loretta Worsley; brothers, James E. German Jr. and Clifton Earl Tilley; stepfather, James Elbert German Sr., and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, in-laws, and extended friends. Margarene's interment ceremony will take place at The Cherry Estate Cemetery in Bethel, North Carolina, beside her loving mother, Beulah Cherry Worsley German, beloved grandparents, and other dear relatives.
