Mr. Major Lloyd Jr.

Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints. (Psalm 116:5) Mr. Major Lloyd, Jr., Robersonville, NC, son of the late Major “Yank” Lloyd, Sr. and Evelyn James Lloyd transitioned from his earthly home on Thursday, November 26, at Vidant Medical Center, Greenville, NC. Major was born in Martin County, North Carolina on December 27, 1942. He attended Bethel Union High School in Bethel, North Carolina. A conscious worker, Major worked with his father on the farm until he married and relocated. Major married the love of his life and high school sweet heart Carrie L. Andrews on December 19, 1964 and they relocated to New Haven, Connecticut in 1965. He was a member of Mt Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in New Haven, CT and actively served as a member of the male chorus. Although Major had many different jobs, he is best known for his work as a bus driver. He worked for Constitution Coach, Inc. Major loved the road and could proudly tell you how to find your way on any highway anywhere in the continental United States as well as the cheapest gas locations. He enjoyed singing and traveling. A caring and loving man, Major always presented himself in a cool, calm and collective manner; often greeting family and friends with a hug and kiss. A family man, Major did not play and was known for always saying what he meant and meaning what he said. Major and Carrie returned to Robersonville after their retirement and united with House of Refuge Church Ministries in Robersonville, North Carolina under the leadership of Pastor and Co-pastor Ronnie and Angel Staton. He loved the Lord and was actively involved with his church. Major is preceded in death by his son, James Kelvin Lloyd; three brothers, William Earl, Milton, James Lloyd; sister, Evelyn L. McCray. A thoughtful and warm family man, Major leaves to continue his legacy, his wife, Carrie L. Andrews Lloyd, Robersonville, NC; two daughters, Hattie L. Whites, Greenville, NC, Brenda Lloyd, New Haven, CT; one son, Timothy Lloyd (Euveta), New Haven, CT; six sisters, Mabel Carroll, New Haven, CT, Barbara Lloyd Greenville, NC, Carolyn Stancil, Charlotte, NC, Kay Frances Peele, Robersonville, NC, Janice Hines (Leon), Everetts, NC, Maxine Pittman (Lewis) Conetoe, NC; two brothers, Carlton Donnell Lloyd (Geraldine), Charlotte, NC. Ricky Lloyd (Mary), Greenville, NC; one god-sister, Edna Shelly; one uncle, Robert Garris, Arizona; two aunt, Evangeline Stokes, Williamston, NC, Janice McDonald, Brooklyn, NY; two sisters-in-law, Venetta and Audrey Lloyd, New Haven, CT; thirteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends.
