Mrs. Lurlene Brown Taylor was born on October 25, 1925, in Martin County, North Carolina, to the late Joseph Henry and Beaulah Wilkins Brown. On November 6, 2025, she peacefully transitioned from this earthly life to her eternal home. Lurlene received her early education in Robersonville, North Carolina. In her early years, she worked diligently as a dishwasher before devoting herself to the calling of homemaker. After uniting in holy matrimony with the late Mr. Charlie B. Taylor, the couple made their home in Norfolk, Virginia, where they lovingly raised their family. A woman of quiet strength and unwavering faith, Lurlene took great joy in caring for her family and preparing delicious home-cooked meals that brought everyone together. She was known for her wisdom, compassion, and selfless spirit. To know her was to experience genuine kindness and love. Lurlene was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Mr. Charlie B. Taylor; three sisters, Ella Wiggins and Emma Little, Sallie Mae Brown Morring-Downing ; two brothers, Henry Brown Jr. and Theodore Brown; and three sons, Kenny Lee Brown, Dennis Brown, and Jimmy Lee Brown. Cherishing her precious memories are her loving children, Charlie A. Taylor (Sharon) of Chesapeake, VA, Melinda Reaves (Larry) of Robersonville, NC, Lillie Sanderlin (Gregory) of Robersonville, Gloria Taylor of the home, Ricky Taylor of Brooklyn, NY, and Gene Taylor (Joyce) of Everetts, NC; she also lovingly helped to reared her grandson, Patrick Taylor; Lurlene will be fondly remembered by a host of grandchildren, great children, great-great grandchildren, great-great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Lurlene’s life was a living testimony of love, faith, and perseverance. Her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched. Though she is absent from the body, we rejoice knowing she is present with the Lord. “Well done, thou good and faithful servant... enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.” Matthew 25:21
