Elder Linvert Roberson was born on August 12, 1950 to the late Charlie and the late Pastor Fannie Perkins Roberson. He lived an extraordinary life and gave his all to God, his family and his friends. His passion for God, the Word of God and imparting Godly wisdom will never be forgotten. Whether he was call “Boona-Baby” by his family, “Bird” by his friends, or “Roc” by his endearing wife, he never to question the love his friends and family had for him. Elder Linvert is a graduate of East End High School, Class of 1968 Robersonville, NC. He became a truck driver and continued that occupation for more than forty years. Due to that experience, he was a “Professional” Truck Drive. He was currently employed at Huttig Building Products, in Rocky Mount, NC until he transitioned. Elder Linvert was a member of Roberson Chapel Disciples of Christ, under the leadership of his mother, the late Pastor Fannie Roberson, where he served in the choir and on the Trustee Board. As a result of his servant hood, faithfulness, dedication to God and the church, the Lord elevated him to the position of Elder under the Leadership of Pastor Shirley T. Powell. He continued to sing and teach Adult Sunday school and Bible study. He was anointed to teach the word of God, which he did affectionately. Elder Linvert met and married the love of his life, Deaconess Sheila Bond Roberson, whom he referred toas his “Baby Girl”. They were joined in Holy Matrimony on February 16, 2003. She held the key to his heart and he was her covering. He would always pray and cover his wife and family faithfully every day before leaving his home. Elder Roberson would always say that his life was better with her than without her. As his wife, she honored her vows, “in sickness and in health,” she honored, “for better or worse,” she honored, “until death do us part,” she honored her husband and is the epitome of a virtuous women indeed. Elder Linvert lived a full, fun-filled Godly life and was loved by many. Elder Roberson ran his race and finished well on Sunday, December 24, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Tyrone Roberson, Rudolph Roberson, Octavis Roberson, Author Jr. Roberson, and C.B Roberson; two sisters, Sadie Mae Brown and Ethel Mae Williams. Elder Roberson leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife of fifteen years, Deaconess Shelia Roberson; three sons, Travus Matthewson (Mary) of Winterville, NC, Kirjathamin Matthewson (Quantisha) of Robersonville, NC, Kilah Matthewson, Edenton, NC; four daughters, Letitia Matthewson of Robersonville, NC, Heisha Lynch (Darius) of Parmele, NC, Milah Matthewson of Robersonville, NC, Latonya Jenkins (Vidal) of Williamston, NC; three sisters, Joyce McCrary, Shirley Powell (William), and Glenda Barnes, all of Parmele, NC; four brothers, Clinton Roberson (Diane), McCoy Roberson (Doris), McKinley Roberson (Alice) all of Parmele, NC, Hoyt Manning (Sonya) of Manhattan, NY; twenty-eight grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives; special friend/ brother, Minister Ben McDowelland Mrs. Annabell Ewell, whom he loved as a mother.
