Linda Jean Frank Harris died peacefully on July 15, 2026 at in Greenville, NC. Linda and her husband of more than 50 years, Robert Harris, made their home in Grifton, NC since 2015. Linda was born August 6, 1944 to Robert McCreary Frank and Lanie Naomi Garris in Hampton, Virginia. She grew up in NC and spent significant time on the family farm of her maternal grandparents Elisha Henry Garris and Annie Drue Andrews in Ayden, NC. After graduating from Ayden High School in 1962, she married Thomas Braxton in 1963. They had two children before their divorce. She later attended East Carolina University where she met and married her husband Robert Harris on November 28, 1975, in Raleigh, NC. She graduated from ECU with a degree in chemistry with an emphasis in teaching as she became the first member of her family to graduate from college. Robert and Linda settled in the Raleigh area and had two children. Linda would later complete additional studies with a degree in Chemical Engineering from North Carolina State University and completed a four-year program in one year. Linda taught at Millbrook High School in Raleigh for 17 years. Robert and Linda moved to Marietta, GA, in 1988 where she worked in environmental chemistry for several years. Linda was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Pamela Frank Hirneisen. She is survived by her husband, Robert, four children, Bucky Braxton, Keith Braxton, Martin Harris (Emily) and Heather Harris Belanger (Jesse) along with 10 grandchildren, Summer, Christopher, Hunter and Hailey (Bucky); Joshua, Dallas, Hunter and Caleb (Keith); Madison (Martin); and Sawyer (Heather), and six great grandchildren. In addition to her human family, Linda leaves behind, and was preceded in death by, beloved pets. She was known to rescue many dogs and to tame feral cats, all of whom became her children. In addition to being a wonderful wife and mother, Linda enjoyed several hobbies including being a voracious reader, an avid genealogist, a talented cross stitcher, a cutthroat card shark and a compassionate friend. She also enjoyed sewing and creating. Linda passed away in full fellowship as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and lived her life with a strong testimony of our Heavenly Father and His son Jesus Christ. Funeral services will be Monday, July 20, 2026 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 307 Martinsborough Road in Greenville, NC at 11 a.m. Family will meet loved ones before the funeral service to share memories and say goodbye beginning at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would be honored to have any donation in her name to the ASPCA.
