Mr. Kerry Smith

Kerry Hue Smith, was born blessed and the first son to Lillian Minor and to the late Mahue Smith on January 19, 1959 in Edward, NC. God called him into eternal rest early Monday morning August 17, 2015 at Inpatient Hospice in Greenville, N.C. He became a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, Mesic, N.C., at a young age. Kerry was an avid sportsman excelling in basketball, football, baseball and swimming. He graduated from Pamlico County High School, class of 1977. Kerry was employed as a Commercial Fisherman for many years traveling from coast to coast. Whenever he wasn’t on the boat, he was seen in the Mesic community doing various jobs. But through many dangers, toils and snares, he experienced God’s Amazing Grace over and over again. We must remember Kerry was Kerry! No doubt, one of a kind! Known for his saying “Do It” He relocated to Greenville, NC for a new start and began taking classes to improve his skills. Later, Kerry rededicated his life to Christ and began to visit and worship at Mt. Calvary Free Will Baptist Church,Greenville, NC. He enjoyed reading his Bible, good singing and praising the Lord. He was soon introduced to the love of his life Debra Ann Ham. He proposed to Debra and they had made plans to marry on December 26, 2015. Kerry felt led to join Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, Edward, N.C. His mother’s home church. We were able to see and experience more of Kerry through his heart of generosity, forgiving spirit, caring, sharing, laughter, and a hug or smile when he saw you. Kerry’s illness caused him to re-evaluate his life and relationship with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He then believed, when this flesh and heart shall fail, and mortal life shall cease, I shall possess within the veil, a life of joy and peace. Now to you…Put God First and I’ll be seeing you!! Forever cherishing his memory are, his mother, Lillian Minor Bell of Edward, NC; step-mother Hazel Smith of Mesic, NC; three daughters, Ebony Smith of Rocky Mount, NC, Princess Moore of Atlanta, GA, Shonda Coffey-Marsh (Horace) of Atlanta, GA; five sons, Jerrell Jarvis (Ebony) of Charlotte, NC, Ron King (Tracy) of Mesic, NC; Deon King of Edward, NC, Travis King and Juwon King both of Braxton City, NC; three sisters, Ivia Aiken of Brooklyn, NY, Pamela Roberson of Wilmington, NC, Lenette Chapman (Irvin) of Winterville, NC; four brothers, Gerald Midgette of Aurora, NC, Bruce Marshall of Bear, Delaware, Tyrone Smith (Stephanie) of Aurora, NC, Jerome Smith of Greenville, NC; two step-sisters, Cheryl Thomas and Phyllis Keaton; one step-brother, Edward Fairley; sixteen grandchildren; five aunts; three uncles; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
