Mrs. Julia Howard

Julia Catherine “Pop”” Spruill Howard was born on June 28, 1959, to the late George Mack Spruill and Frances Viola Moore Spruill in Williamston, NC. She transitioned from this earth to her final rest in glory on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at home surrounded by her family. Julia Spruill Howard received her formal education in the Martin County School System. She attended church often before her health failed her. She would often attend Philippi Church and had been a member of Christ Temple in Bethel, NC. Julia Spruill Howard was a sweet, loving, and caring lady. She enjoyed her family gatherings and feeding everyone or at least sending you home with a plate of food. She loved to dance and was a great dancer. She was employed with ECU Brody School of Medicine for over 15 years until her health failed. Julia Spruill Howard was preceded in death by her son, Ricky Spruill; three brothers; Augustus, Lester, & Mackey Spruill; paternal aunts, Magdalene Spruill Best, Joanna Spruill Staton, Dorothy Spruill; maternal aunt, Alice Moore Arrington; three paternal uncles, Leo, James and Moses Spruill; two sisters in law, Betty Howard and Barbara Howard May. Julia Spruill Howard leaves to cherish her memories, her husband William Howard, Sr. of the home; two daughters, Shontell Lane (Xavier) of Winterville, NC and Anita Howard of Greenville, NC; two sons, Jamie Williams of Greenville, NC and William Howard, Jr (Tiffany) of Zebulon, NC; fifteen grandchildren, Tyshaun (Sharniece), Myra, Aaron, Xavaier, Xaden, Daniyah, Shariyah, Will J, Emyus, Karise, Kamala, Thomas Jr, Taylor, Jazmere and My’Angel; three great-grandchildren, TJ, Shanayla and Javon; one sister, Rosa Smith (Carroll) of Grimesland, NC; four brothers, George Mack Spruill, Jr of Goldsboro, NC, Jasper Spruill (Adrienne) of Wake Forest, NC, Johnny Mack Spruill (Mattie) and Cecil Spruill both of Greenville, NC; two sisters in law, Mary Howard Best (Calvin) of Bethel, NC and Paulette Council of Bridgeport, CT; one God-daughter, Stacy Sutton of Greenville, NC and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
